Augusta (Augusta) is a state capital of United States of America State of Maine. It is located in state middle southern district, the bank of a river of the Kennebec river (Kennebec River). It is located to northeast approximately 88km of most big city Portland of the state, northeast approximately 258km of Boston. The population is 18,560 people (2000 national census).

History

In September, 1607, it was a British of the pop ham colony (Popham Colony) which was over in a short life first that set foot in this ground. The British settler of the Plymouth colony (Plymouth Colony) established the trade commerce place on this ground in 1625 and settled down in this ground. A part became the official town in a name of a street called the halo well in 1771. The area of upper reaches was established as another town called Harrington (Harrington) in February, 1797 and was changed the name in current Augusta in August of the year.

Augusta became the state capital formally in 1827. However, County Council was held in Portland until a Government building of the main capitol was completed in 1832. Augusta was promoted to the city in 1849.

Geography

Augusta is located to 44°19'25" N 69°45'45" W (44.323535, -69.765261) [¹]. I am located the east most for the state capital of U.S. 50 states.

According to United States of America Statistics Bureau, Augusta City is total area 150.9 km2 (58.3 mi²). Of these, 143.4 km2 (55.4 mi²) is land, and 7.5 km2 (2.9 mi²) is Suichi area. 4.98% of total areas become the Suichi area.

Traffic

An airport becoming the doorway of the city is Augusta state establishment airport at the west ends of the downtown. A flight to Logan International Airport of Boston arrives and departs. Even a car can aim at Augusta by car from Logan International Airport to Boston for approximately indispensability three hours.

Expressway I-95 between states goes in Augusta. I-95 links the major cities of Atlantic coast and lies in the north and south and is a main line to Miami. There is バスディーポ of the Vermont traffic cooperating with a greyhound and goes to Boston. In addition, there is the direct flight of the greyhound from New York, too. There is not the Amtrak station.
