Summary
Schubert is still youthful 22 years old, and this music is known as hope and a masterpiece of the time when I overflowed happily. After this, Schubert still less composes piano quintet music.
Because the fourth movement was the variation with the melody of song "trout" D550 (thought with the third article of five versions), there was a subtitle called "trout" (ます, Germany: Die Forelle). I also give the variation of this work (D667) the motif of the trout which disappears when I appear in water separately from the song which I made earlier being a variation. Schubert used this in piano accompaniment.
The formation called a piano, a violin, a viola, a cello and the contrabass is taken with the work of Schubert unlike the formation (one piano and string quartet) of the normal piano quintet. As for the piano quintet music by the same formation, Hummel composed two pieces, and "the trout" was really written for the orchestra which played a work of Hummel. As for what Schubert referred to, it is thought that it is a piano quintet version of "septet" D minor (formation: Pf, Fl, Ob, Hrn, Va, Vc, Cb) work 74 (I publish it with original music in about 1816) not "quintet music" strange E minor work 87 (1822 publication) of Hummel when I think from composition time.
It is a rich mining expert to have asked for composition and is diLouvel terPaumgartner who was the lover of a woodwind instrument and the cello (Silvester Paumgartner). It was the verge that visited the Staier district of north Austria in a trip in the friends who were 29 years old older with Johan Michael フォーグル of the singer in July, 1819 that Schubert received a request. フォーグル is known as the excellent singer who gave the first public performance of liederkranz "Winterreise" later. In addition, it was a request from this Paumgartner to add making the formation that increased a contrabass and the variation based on the melody of the song "trout" [1]. Unfortunately, the handwriting music is lost, and a guess with reminiscences and the transcription music of Alberto シュタートラー (Albert Stadler) of the friend is important about the process of the composition mentioned above.
In addition, I was not able to publish this work during the lifetime, too.
Constitution
The work is comprised of five movements.
- Allegro・ヴィヴァーチェ - A major. I take according to custom, the sonata form in the many movements work of this time. However, I slightly changed the theme repetition of the subdominant chord and dispensed with the change to the second subject.
- Andante - F major、Binary form。 It features a complicated modulation.
- Scherzo - Presto, A major. The trio is D major.
- Andantino - Allegretto D major。 The variation due to "a trout." After the subject was shown only by a stringed instrument, six variation continues. As for the fourth variation, D minor, the fifth variation become the strange ロ major key. The sixth variation (not stated clearly) serves as a coda.
- Allegro ジュスト - A major, sonata form. The fourth movement is transformed on the way and is recollected.
"Death and a young girl" are some of works of Schubert including "a wanderer fantasy", and string quartet thirteenth "ロザムンデ" is seen in the movement consisting of the variation using the melody of other works the 14th.
Difficult point
Through all songs, a lot of both hands unison in the upper register is hard to flip the piano part (the fourth movement first variation). Therefore, the manner of writing of the piano may be invoked with "demon kings" as the example which was not familiar highly Schubert [3].
But the piano at the time was a single action of the Vienna expression, and the width of the strength and weakness was not it, but the octave glissando was easy, too. In addition, the work which demands difficulty of this level from Clementi and Czerny is composed at the same period, and only a work of Schubert is not proud of an original degree of difficulty.
Remarks
- I adopt it in a departure melody in Iwaki 1.2 numbered wire of JR East Joban Line.
