Because it is the east entrance of the San-in district and is the representative Tottori-shi station that is prefectural seat of Tottori, it becomes the starting station of many trains including a limited express train.

Table of contents

Entry of route

I assume San'in Main Line position line [1], and 2 routes that added Inbi Line that our station becomes the starting point ride it. In addition, the train of the Wakasa railroad runs in it via Inbi Line, too.

Limited express, rapid train to arrive and depart

The following limited expresses, rapid trains run in our station. Because the passenger flow is divided into transportation or the Yin and Yang combined transport between San-in area cities in our station, as for the limited express, the rapid train except (partly Tottori beginning last arrival), our station becomes the last arrival at the beginning when "I wear a supermarket".

History

  • As last arrival, Tottori temporary station starts a business in Ketaka-gun Sea Tokumura (current Tottori-shi) Furumi [2] of the Chiyokawa left bank when a route (current San'in Main Line) of - 官設鉄道 extended (1907) from Aoya Station on April 28 in 1907.

  • It becomes the West Japan Railway Co. (West Japan Railway) station by - Japanese National Railways division and privatization (1987) on April 1 in 1987.

Station structure

It is an elevated station having island expression home two 4 line.

Because I go up the platform on the wiring most and I go down the main line, the third platform and do it with the main line, in the times of "the long distance local train" of the Showa, I go up the 1.2 turn platform and go down the third platform, and, in the fourth platform, there was generous division called Inbi Line, but almost all trains are used for the fourth platform without distinction except "super when I wear it" at the revised present on March 15, 2008 because it is to a diamond of our station first train, last arrival except that there is not the Hamasaka area (because they are assuming stepping over our station when "I wear a supermarket", and running it, as for the Kyoto going, 1.2 turn platform, the Kurayoshi going arrive and depart on the 3.4 turn platform). In the home, long-distance train becomes able to arrive and depart, but there is not a train to use now one home for from tip to toe because bed limited express "Izumo" that linked Tokyo to San-in in time schedule revision of March 18 (2006) in 2006 was abolished. All trains stop mainly on an escalator.

Between the 2.3 turn platform, there is a measuring line beside the arrival and sailing line of the train (storage of entrance and exit forwarding trains to a Goto synthesis vehicle place use it) which does not do attendance, the fourth platform.

Each home of the station is on the third floor, and, as for the anteroposterior section, it is in a Slavic orbit-centered high shelf including Tottori Station. One elevator is installed in each home by the wicket (the elevator was installed than before, but it was necessary to report to a person in charge on the occasion of the use because it was out of a wicket). In addition, the waiting room installed before outside a wicket is removed by the use increase except the station user, and a waiting room is installed now in a wicket.

It is a direct management station, and a Tottori train service department to have jurisdiction over each station between Higashihama Station - Akasaki Station of San'in Main Line and each station from Chizu Station of Inbi Line and to the north is put in the yard.

Commercial facilities シャミネ or trip to Japan TiS Tottori Branch are in the station building west.

  • As of March, 2010, as for the ride position aim of "a super cold to get up, and to wait for /", as for the ride position aim of "super Inaba", the ride position aim of "はまかぜ" is installed only in the first platform on the 1.3.4 turn platform in all homes. To Kyoto because there is the adding cars of the reserved seat car about when "wear a supermarket" irregularly, guide a ride position with a small size monitor not a fixed ride position aim. Because it is only a platform most that there is this monitor, as for the same line car, the principle first becomes departing from and arriving at a platform. The "supermarket getting on position aim to Kurayoshi of when I vomit" is installed in the chisel 3.4 turn platform for an unreserved seat car.
  • Station automatic broadcast was updated from about October, 2010, and the same approach melody came to flow that I was used at Yonago Station of the branch office and Matsudai Station of Hokuetsu district express Hokuhoku Line.

A high street (National highway No. 53, National highway No. 373) which is main street of Tottori-shi is connected in growth, Wakasa Highway (same as above) from the front Exit of the station (the north exit) and passes a city hall, the side of the citizen of the prefecture Cultural Center and lengthens to the prefectural office close to the Hisamatsu mountain. Commercial stores such as Tottori Daimaru are concentrated. The south side of the station is maintained from the late 80s, too, and ions (old Jusco) open a store. In the branch of the large store (road side store) of the suburbs model to advance, Tottori-shi is no exception, too, and the customers of high street and Wakasa Highway go to the large store surely, and the ever-impressive turnout is disappearing nationwide. The Tottori cinema which is the only movie theater in Tottori-shi is within walking distance of the station now.

In addition, with the plan to make the Japan's biggest hourglass (one hour meter of 6m in total length) with the sand of the Tottori dune in front of Tottori Station [5] [6].
