History
Before Arakawa flood control channel (existing Arakawa) excavation, Kinoshita Bridge was built over the place where a Hikifune River street intersected the Ayase River (new Yotsugi bridge is built now).
Wooden Yotsugi bridge (old bridge) was bridged with June 30 [3], Arakawa flood control channel excavation (1922) in 1922. A position was not current National highway No. 6, and the extension of the Tokyo way 465 Fukagawa East land town line of the approximately 500m down stream was.
I am said to be it taking advantage of confusion of the Great Kanto Earthquake (1923) in September for 1,923 years when a Korean, Chinese slaughter was performed by the sleeve on the Sumida-ku side of this Yotsugi bridge, but the scale is unknown. [The source required]
There was the plan to build a modern bridge on current National highway No. 6 separately from this wooden bridge early. A check about Shimbashi is made by Jun Masuda engaged in the bridge designs such as Senjuohashi, six volost bridges (old bridge) (1935) at the time in 1935. The real construction was performed (1939) from February in 1939, and it was stopped (1943) in about October in 1943 by war situation aggravation.
Construction was reopened after the war, and an eternal bridge was inaugurated to July 30 [2] (1952) in 1952. This is current Yotsugi bridge. There was a plan extended a route across this bridge to the streetcar which went only as far as Higashimukojima Hirokoji. Because the old bridge existed at the time of the opening to traffic, I called it new Yotsugi bridge.
(1969), wooden former Yotsugi bridge were dismantled in 1969, and, wow, a downhill path type parallelism string was Ren truss bridge, and Kine River Bridge was crosslinked instead in the 100m down stream.
Furthermore, April 5 [2], a new bridge were bridged as chronic traffic jam measures around the new Yotsugi bridge (1973) along the Hikifune River street in 1973.
It had been after the wooden Yotsugi bridge was already removed then, and called the bridge with "new Yotsugi Bridge", and a name of the new Yotsugi Bridge made became "the Yotsugi Bridge" in one 1952. In addition, the new Yotsugi bridge was called a 新々四 ツ tree bridge during construction.
1983 (1983), the Metropolitan expressway center belt line Yotsugi doorway part opening to traffic. 1987 (1987), the Yotsugi doorway entire surface opening to traffic.

- Because it is the only one side 1 traffic lane section, at National highway No. 6 in Tokyo, it is crowded in morning and evening. (but because the width of the traffic lane is wide, there are many cars which travel side by side without joining 1 traffic lane)
- A national flag raising tower is at the both ends of the bridge.
