The common soldier tenement house (あしがるながや) is a house of the tenement house form of the common soldier of the Shibata feudal clan of the Edo era in Shibata-shi, Niigata. I am performed designation [1] by the important cultural property of the country. The owner is north culture Museum Foundation.

The one which is said that there were four near by, but exists this in the Edo era only as for one. It is thatched terraced houses for eight households. In the building generation, I am missing, but a letter of (1842) is left to a billboard announcing a framework-raising ceremony for "Tenpo era 13 years" and is thought with building of the same year.

Dismantling repair was carried out in (1969) in 1969 and was maintained, but a person lived as a real house until the last year. In the case of this dismantling repair, the above-mentioned billboard announcing a framework-raising ceremony was found.

The appearance of the Shibata municipal library in the city assumed the form of this common soldier tenement house a motif.
