Table of contents

Origin, person

I am born in current Kureda, Nankoku-shi, Kochi. Via old system Kochi Prefectural Kochi Joto junior high school (existing Kochi Prefectural Kochi pursuer former high school), Tokyo University department of science astronomy subject is a graduate for 1,950 years. I take office as a professor through an assistant at Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, a lecturer, an assistant professor attached to Tokyo University in 1971. I retired from a retirement age in 1986 and became professor emeritus at Tokyo University.

Kitamura is Masaaki Furuhata [1] and a pupil of ズデネク Copal, and a disciple has 山崎篤磨 [1], Yasuhisa Nakamura [1], Akira Okazaki [1], Keiichi Saijo [1] and others.

Achievements

I start photoelectric photometry with Masaaki Furuhata early after the war in Japan. I attached a photoelectric photometry device to a 65cm refractor made in Zeiss and performed the photometry of the heavenly bodies. There is the thing which checked the family of the asteroid and the relations of the color index of the asteroid for early observation and is evaluated as a pioneer of the physics observation of the asteroid worldwide. I devoted the main force of the study to proximity binary system. As for the main achievement in this field, there is the decision of the physics parameter of the binary by the incomplete Fourier method known as Kitamura's Method.
