Masayuki Nagare

The sculptor that Masayuki Nagare (flow Masayuki, February 14, 1923 -) plays an active part worldwide, a person of designed garden. I have a nickname of "Samurai Artist".

Person

I am born in Nagasaki in 1923 and spend it in the early childhood in Tokyo. I move to Kyoto in 1936 and enter the Ritsumeikan University letter of the law department in 1942. I leave school in midcourse and greet the end of the war as the Zero fighter crew of the navy naval reserve officer native place afterwards. I roam about all parts of the world, and I learn a sculpture, and self-education leads afterwards at the present. I display fresco "stone crazy" (I carried 2,500, a stone of 600t from Japan.) by New York World Exposition in 1964 and call for a topic. I make "the fort of the cloud", and, in 1975, a huge sculpture of approximately 250 tons gets a global assessment as a symbol of the New York World Trade Center. In addition, "I receive it" is stored as an eternal preservation work (permanent collection) of New York Museum of Modern Art, and a work supports the high his global assessment. In 1967, I was chosen as one of the cultured people on behalf of Japan which TIME chose.

I leave the work of the garden while I play an active part as a sculptor. Masterpieces include Tokyo Tenriism building garden, Kaikeonsen Tokoen garden.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun places an autobiography in "my resume" in 1987.

It wants to be produced in commemoration of the move to Sanda-shi, Hyogo of Kansei Gakuin University department of science (the existing department of science and engineering) and "extends over the recent work in a month" (in 2001 a black granite stone), and there is "NANDABE" (2004) donated to Ritsumeikan University lucky omen junior high school, the high school.

On November 8, 2005, I announce "the heart reason" in JapanStoneFair.

I set up the atelier near the north end of 庵治半島 of the suburbs of Takamatsu-shi and live as of (90 years old) in 2013 [1].
