The non-active volcano of the ヴィルンガ Mountains where the Cali Shin bimountain (Mount Karisimbi) is located in the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Altitude is 4,507m and is the highest peak in the mountains making a part of the Alberta in trough between two parallel faults of the East Africa trough between two parallel faults west. Mt. ニーラゴンゴ is to the west Mt. ビソケ to the east Mt. ミケノ to the north. It is a mountain of high altitudes to the eleventh in Africa.
The name of the mountain comes from amasimbi meaning snow in a Rwandan word. Snowcap is seen best from June of the dry season through August.
Between Cali Shin bimountain and Mt. ビソケ, there is the カリソケ research center which was established by Dian Fossey for the purpose of observing a mountain gorilla in this area.
