Ushikubi pongee

Summary

Shiramine, Hakusan-shi, Ishikawa (former Shiramine-mura) of the straight production center comes from that it was called Ushikubi-mura until the early period of Meiji.

The pod which is raw materials of the silk thread is the thing which one silkworm usually makes, but there is the thing which two silkworms rarely enter and says this with "a dupion cocoon" (たままゆ). Because two threads intertwine with each other complicatedly inside, the spinning is difficult, and the dupion cocoon does it to a thread after usually doing it to silk floss once, but the people of Shiramine spin a direct thread from this cocoon by the ancestral skill and do it with a weft and finish weaving normal silk thread as the warp. This is Ushikubi pongee.

Because several fiber climbs all over it, the thread of the dupion cocoon is good at a melody here and there. Even if this gnarl makes a textile, I characterize the remainder, the Ushikubi pongee.

It was natural, and the tree of hoe which became the bait of the silkworm became Takagi, but sericulture business was prosperous for a long time in Shiramine because it was easy to harvest leaves that snow was snowy in deep Shiramine and was pushed down, and to turn from the root, and to be brought up without being brought up highly. I ship the good cocoon to make raw silk and habutae silk, and the thing which was begun to weave to use a left dupion cocoon is a beginning of Ushikubi pongee.

I ship it as a white plain fabric, and the dyeing may be dyed when I make dyeing with vegetable dyes at the stage of the thread.
