Geography
I flow through the Hikosan, Yamakunimachi, Nakatsu-shi, Oita (ひこさん) neighborhood to the southeastern direction as the source and I change the direction to the northeast direction near Yamakunimachimorizane, Nakatsu-shi and continue with Yabakeimachi, Nakatsu-shi, Nakatsu-shi book Yaba-kei Gorge town and contact with Koge-machi, Chikujo-gun, Fukuoka when I enter Nakatsu-shi Sanko. I am divided into the two groups near a mountainous country bridge built over the prefectural border of Nakatsu-shi and Yoshitomi-machi, Chikujo-gun, Fukuoka, and the east side of "Koiwai" who is central Japan changes the Nakatsu River and the name.
The valley of the top, midstream area is called Yaba-kei Gorge and is known as a beauty spot. A tourist has many a lot of valleys by the fast flowing stream including the blue cave opening and churn hole group of Sarutobi. In the upper reaches, the upper classes are appointed each in "Yaba-Hita-Hiko San Seminational Park" in the natural beauty spot from Oide dam in (1950) in 1950 in (1923) in 1923 by the waterfall of the sweetfish return [1]. In addition, it is a superb view in Uenaka basin in the season of colored leaves of late November.
History
I was called Kikawa (see a fur) in the Heian era. By an area, I want to be called Takase River, Hirotsu River, puppy Hitoshi Marukawa [1], and, as for the name Takase River, the name current Takase, Nakatsu-shi district, Hirotsu River comes from the current Hirotsu, Yoshitomi-machi district each [2] afterwards [3].
When Tadaoki Hosokawa did 入封 in Nakatsu Castle for (Keicho era five years) in 1600, I constructed Kanaya bank and closed an owner river (おおえがわ) which was the main stream of the Yamakuni River at the time and used it as a moat outside Nakatsu castle and did the Nakatsu River which was a group river in those days with the main stream. And new group River occurred because of 2 degrees flood of (Kanbun nine years) (the Meiryaku era first year) in 1669 in 1655, and there was central Japan (small Iwaishima) afterwards between the main stream [2]. In the Edo era, the estuary of the Yamakuni River is called the Takase River;, of these, the river (current Nakatsugawa) on the Nakatsu Castle side of the central Japan (small Iwaishima) called table river and Nakatsu River and Kyoto night the river (the current Yamakuni River) on the side back river and puppy Hitoshi Marukawa [1]. The Edo era had little quantity of water of the river (the current Yamakuni River) which I produced newly, and current Nakatsugawa was still the main stream, but flow quantity reversed by a flood of (1889) in 1889, and the Yamakuni River became the main stream like the present [3].
When the Meiji era began, the generic name of this river was about to be fixed at Nakatsugawa once, but was done an administrative order the Yamakuni River and the thing that I did (1875) by Ogura prefecture on December 23 in 1875 [1]. The name called the Yamakuni River comes from that a valley of upper reaches has been ever called a mountainous country valley [3].
Repair work by the direct control business of the country was carried out from (1948) in 1948 and was appointed to a first class water system with the enforcement of the River Act in (1966) in 1966 [1].
