M551 シェリダン is developed in the United States of America and is an amphibious air strategy tank used in U.S. Army.
シェリダン (Sheridan) of the nickname was named for the Philip H シェリダン general who was one of the heroes of the Civil War.

Summary
Development was started by AR/AAV (Armored Reconnaissance/Airborne Assault Vehicle: armor reconnaissance / air strategy charge vehicle) plan that M551 integrated the M56 スコーピオン air strategy tank destroyer for paratroops with the M41 whippet tank which had begun to be used in the 1950s and substituted.
