Fuji, L4-1 engine
L4-1 is the inline four-cylinder gasoline engine which Fuji Heavy Industries developed. I was developed for prototype P-1 use, but, by mass production plan cancellation of P-1, this plane was not recognized by the world, too.

Summary
In 1952, the Fuji auto industry starts the development of the car of the 1,500cc grade. The prototype named P-1 carried the Fuji exact industrial FG4A engine that was a company belonging to the same school at first. However, this engine was developed by a request and the investment of the Prince car (たま car), and sale to the Fuji auto industry that it was a competition partner in 1954 when the feeling of prince and the Fuji exact の merger increased became impossible [1]. On the other hand, the Fuji auto industry ordered an engine of the new 1,500cc grade from Omiya Fuji Kogyo [2] in anticipation of supply stoppage of FG4A, too.
It is the origin of Honda light who was a young engineer of Omiya Fuji Kogyo that took the center of the new engine development on the pretence of an L4-1 type. Honda pushed forward a design while referring to the advice [3] of the engineer registered at from prewar days and Ford consultant, the engine for the compact car of Vauxhall. A prototype is completed in February, 1954, and field firing is carried out and records the output of 45ps. Improvement was added and finally recorded 63ps/4,600rpm afterwards at a bench [4]. An increase prototype is produced, and it is really about April, 1955, the following day that the deployment to P-1 was carried out [5]. This plane was superior to FG4A in not only the output but also the weight, and, as for the vehicle weight of P-1, as for the L4-1 deployment type, it was 1,178 kg for 1,230 kg of FG4A deployment types.
