Atsushi Shiotani

Atsushi Shiotani (しおのやおん, from July 6, 1878 to June 3, 1962) is a Japanese scholar of Chinese classics. Professor emeritus at Tokyo Imperial University.

Origin

I am born in Tokyo as a child of scholar of Chinese classics Aoyama, Shioya. Toin Shionoya is a grand-uncle. 号 is Mt. knob. I am a graduate from a Tokyo Imperial University Chinese classics department for 1,902 years. I become an old school assistant professor in 1906, and subsequently, Leipzig University of Germany, a literature doctorate is conferred in a study about former music in Beijing of 清国 and Changsha in returning home, 1920 in study, 1912, and it is retirement at the age limit, a honorary professor in professor, 1939 in the same year. I rediscovered collection of original "all aspect colloquial styles of writing in China" and light の novels in colloquial Chinese "ancient and modern times novel" (copy of "三言") and left great achievements for a novel, the dramatic study, introduction of the China early modern times. In addition, "the new Chinese character model" was used habitually as a standard Chinese word dictionary for a long time.

The daughter married scholar of classical Chinese, Takeshi Karashima and got Noboru Karashima.
