Robert ジェイムソン (Robert Jameson, from July, 1774 to April 19, 1854) is Scotland-born natural historian, mineralogist, geologist.
I was born in Scottish lease (Leith). I learned medicine, botany, chemistry, natural history in Edinburgh University. As an assistant to John Walker (John Walker) of the geologic cash register Usu professorship of the Edinburgh University, I collected the natural historical study collections of the university and investigated Aran Islands, ヘブリディーズ archipelago, Orkney Islands. In German Freiberg mine school, I learned from Abraham ゴットロープ Werener from 1800 through 1801. I inherited cash register Usu professorship in 1804 and, for 15 years, I acted as the job and was enriched by the collection of university and brought up many geologists. In addition, I established association of Werener for geologists in 1808, and the curator of the Edinburgh University Museum served, too.
I stood in the situation of the aqueous opinion of Werener about the origin of the rock and became the representative debater of the aqueous opinion after death of James Hutton of 火成説 in Edinburgh. I launched Edinburgh Philosophical Journal with ディヴィッド ブリュースター in 1819. Zoology more than 74,000 and the geologic sample which ジェイムソン collected become much collection next to the British Museum.
Jamesonite (Jamesonite, Pb4FeSb6S14) was named for ジェイムソン.
