The Joi Valley Castle (きいだにじょう) is the Japanese site of castle in current Sawada, Chikujo-machi, Chikujo-gun, Fukuoka. There is another name for 萱切城.
History
Nobufusa Utsunomiya appointed Buzen lief-guard by (Kenkyu era six years), Yoritomo Minamoto in 1195 constructed a castle and became the castle of Buzen Utsunomiya. Utsunomiya changed the name to Mr. Joi later, but, as for the importance of this castle, Mr. Joi kept power of Buzen around Joi Valley Castle without changing.
While I was tossed about in the change (Ouchi → Otomo → Shimazu) of neighboring power even if the times went by, and it was the age of civil strife, I retained the castle without being invaded as once. However, by the Kyushu conquest of Hideyoshi Toyotomi beginning in 1586 from (Tensho era 14 years), Mr. Joi present head of a household, Shigefusa Kinoi will follow Hideyoshi, too. Shigefusa Kinoi of the one feeling who (Tensho era 15 years), Hideyoshi gave 鎮房 an order for 移封 to the Iyo country in 1587, but wants to protect the ground of the ancestors transmission is repulsion in it. Threatening air will flow with Yoshitaka Kuroda who became the feudal lord of the Buzen 6 county by Hideyoshi.
