Geography

It is located in the southern part of Edogawa-ku, the eastern part of Kasai area. I am the west coast of Kyu-Edogawa which I divided from Edogawa. The area is secondly a big town in a ward in 2.805 square km [1]. It is adjacent with Nakakasai 2.3, 5.8 chome after the Circular Route 7 in Minamikasai 2.6, 7, the west after the Sakon River in the south Toudaijima, Urayasu-shi, Chiba 1.2 chome, 5, Nekozane, Horie 4.5 chome, Fujimi 2.3 chome after Kyu-Edogawa of the first-grade river in Edogawa 5, the east after Shinkawa in the north. In addition, there is the 16,17 address of 3, Higashikasai in the central Japan, Myouken Island appearing on Kyu-Edogawa and is bound together with Urayasu Bridge each with Edogawa-ku mainland, Urayasu-shi. In the 0 meters above see level zone that leave Tokyo Bay only as 1.5km, and is buried in water without a dike like other towns of the Kasai area [2].

Residential area

It is the populous town, and 20,291 households, 39,713 people (January, 2011) live in Higashikasai in a ward [1]. The nearest station is Kasai Station of Tokyo Metro Tozai Line located in Nakakasai that stepped over the Circular Route 7. Because this station started a business in 1969, the development as the residential area of Higashikasai was dripped. It is become, but a high layer seems to be relatively lower in the population density with the 22nd place in 48 in the ward than a neighborhood around the station square because there is the area of the low-rise building [1].

Industrial

1017 establishments are in Higashikasai, and 12,186 people work [3]. The number of the employees is the third place next to Nishikasai and Hirai, and the number of employees (approximately 12) per establishment exceeds the average (approximately nine) in the ward. As for the type of industry, there seem to be many life-related service industry and manufacturing industry (9%), construction industry and transportation industry (8%) such as a wholesale trade, retail trade (26%), staying business, eating and drinking service industry (13%), cleaning business and beauty place, the pachinko. In addition, there seem to be the second most a wholesale trade, a retail trade (3,322) and workers of the medical welfare (1,298) in a ward probably because there are a large shopping mall and hospital. In addition, there is "Farmers club Higashikasai" of the ward-operated farm [4], and there are the second most workers (28) of the agriculture and forestry fishery in a ward.

Higashikasai is the town where manufacturing industry is the most prosperous in Kasai area. It seems to be hard to attract attention to be in the secluded place including Myouken Island and the riverside, but there is a large-scale factory so as to be able to confirm it on the map including Nihon Roll Seizo and the Arai ironworks, and the employee of the manufacturing industry is the fourth place in the ward with 1,166 [3]. Nihon Roll Seizo has a production technology of the calender roller for the rolling in the specialized maker of the rubber plastic processing machine of the biggest in Japan (pretense) and produces the pipes for water and sewage [5]. I own a super public bath or a large warehouse [7] in [6], the neighboring whole area in an old factory of the history that there is in Higashikasai from prewar days. In addition, it becomes the stage of the movie which Sayuri Yoshinaga appeared in the 1960s [8] and appears as a precedent about office regulations in [9], these days [10]. On the other hand, I say that the Arai ironworks produces the connection parts of the pipe or the drill pipe for the oil drilling [11]. There are various factories including the margarine factory in the Myouken Island, and the raw materials of the margarine seem to have been shipped over [12]. In addition, the retail trade is prosperous, too, and the amount of annual sale reaches approximately 45,600 million yen and is a scale of the first place in the ward [3].

Land prices

According to the posted land price of January 1, the land prices of the residential area are 367,000 yen/m2 (2014) at a point of 6-23-3, Higashikasai in 2014. [13]

History

The northern part of Higashikasai is the area where the history is the oldest in Kasai area. It was located in the river mouth of 太日川 and was known as Nagashima of the Kasai sacred kitchen in the Middle Ages. The sacred kitchen is the manor of the convincing Shinto shrine. It was a manor of Ise Grand Shrine, and Kiyoshige Kasai ruled the Kasai sacred kitchen, but became the feudal tenure of Hojo after Chiba-ya when Kasai declined. In this area, there were Kokufu and the Katori Sea of the Shimousa country upstream at a point of the river transportation, and many ships came and went. Minato, Nagashima (Tsu of Nagashima) was established in Nagashima and prospered as one of Kasai sacred kitchen and the outport of Kokufu. Katori major shrine managed the river transportation of north and south morning service charges. The power of the Katori major shrine extended to Nagashima equal to the border of Tokyo Bay and the inland sea and I established river Seki in (sentence first year / Oan era five years), Nagashima in 1372 and collected a toll (kerosene charges place) [14].

With the opinion which there was Takajo, Nagashima to protect a port for the age of civil strife [15]. Kiyomitsu temple is said to be the trace, and the outskirts are lined with Shinto shrine Buddhist temples now. Nagashima of (Eiroku era two years) was chief vassal of Mr. back north article, one of the territories of Yasusuke Ota for 1,559 years [16]. Konodai battle was fought for several degrees in the neighborhood, and it was the beginning of the outbreak of war that Yasusuke Ota went over to Satomi as for the second Konodai battle of (Eiroku era six years) in 1563. The one who helped Yoshihiro Satomi who got injured then, and escaped alive developed Iyo Nitta later in Kitakoiwa in Shinohara Iyo (Anzai). The descendant emigrates to Nagashima-mura; of the village headman say that became alone [17].

In the Edo era, southern development advanced. Sadamu Udagawa developed 宇喜田 and Nanbu of Higashikasai was some, too, but was divided as 東宇喜田村 in Genroku Era. Villages of Nakacho were established in thunder (いかずち), the at the back low land along the Nakacho, Nitta Street in a natural levee [18] along Kyu-Edogawa [19], and there were Nagashima-mura and Kuwagawa-mura, Shimoimai-mura in the northern part. Shinkawa was excavated at (Kanei era six years), the north end of Higashikasai in 1629 and became the aorta of the transportation by water of Edo.

When it was the Meiji era, villages of the Kasai area merged by municipality organization and became the Kasai village. Edogawa-ku was born by a city county merger in the Showa era, and some historic site names including Kuwagawa-cho revived. Large-scale development advanced after the war in the Kasai area. (1969), Tozai Line let whole line open go through in 1969, and Kasai Station was established. Kasai offing development business began in (1972) in 1972, and an address called Higashikasai was established by enforcement of the house indication of (1980) in 1980. The Heisei era begins, and it is after that the southern part of Higashikasai came into the limelight. By Kasai land readjustment project [20] and Higashikasai land readjustment project [21], emission 16 and city planning road assistance Route 289 were inaugurated. Kasai Riverside lacing braid including Ito-Yokado Kasai store opened (1999) on July 3 in 1999 [22], and Shimachu Holmes Kasai store opened it (2004) on December 6 in 2004 [23]. Higashikasai library is opened in (2005) in 2005, and supporting Route 289 is going to north in future. Construction is carried out in Funabori [24], and land readjustment project [25] in southern Edogawa is planned with it now in the northern part of Higashikasai. Kuwagawa, Nagashima community Hall is opened in (2011) in 2011 [26], and development is going.
