サント = email = エグリーズ or サント = メーレグリーズ (Sainte-Mère-Église) is France, Basse-Normandie area area, commune of Manche. [Note 1] which is one of the French commune where the commune was released by a fight of Normandy of June 6, 1944 first.

Geography
I am 37km away from 14km, Saint-Lo from the tongue clang-clang. The commune touches only commune of Manche with the border [1].

Traffic
National highway No. 13 (fr) goes along the commune to the north and south. I am connected to the commune other than the prefecture through a bus route.
Origin
By spelling made Latin, it was ever written down with Sancte Marie Ecclesia (from 1080 to 1082), Ecclesia de Sancte Maria (1317 mention), Saincte-Mariglise. French Sainte-Mariglise became Sainte-Marie-Église and turned into Sainte-Mère-Église. The old spelling means that is related to Maria, but is surely unrelated to mele glees of Eure-et-Loir where Latin Mater ecclesia meaning "the Mother Church" is the etymology (Méréglise) [3]; [4].
The commune adopted the name of email = livre (Mère-Libre) for (from 1792 to 1795) for National Convention Era after the French Revolution [5].
History
It means that a parish has been already maintained that the first stone was put in the サント = email church in the early eleventh century. 400 years later, the church was completed with a Gothic building. Until World War II, the city of the calf was opened in a church open space [6]. This city is reopened in 1973.
The village was the center of the plan district, and Atlantic coast was near, and the spread of thought was promoted like a position having received the benefit of the Rome transportation network, too. In the 14th century fighting for Guillaume de サント = email = エグリーズ (birth of the whole families having the origin in en, サント = email = エグリーズ), 100 years that the history begins for a long time from "the longest day", and were the London bishop from 1199 in the invasion of the England forces, the plague fashion, Huguenot war, existence of the large Protestant community in the 17th century, revolution in 1789, the execution of owl party (シュアン) and the chief ブリックヴィル viscount in 1796, the Napoleon times with the local governments in the Second Empire times [7].

World War II
The German entered the village and, on June 18, 1940 that was the middle of the fight of France, raised a huge Hakenkreuz flag in the village office. For approximately four years, サント = email = エグリーズ was occupied.
The poster which informed that the patriot who was going to go to the U.K. by ship immediately was found guilty and was executed was put [9].
A fire occurred in the building in the other side of the church open space at 11:00 on the afternoon of June 5, 1944. 50 Germany soldiers armed with a rifle watched it on firefighters and inhabitants handing you the bucket which I poured water into, and extinguishing a fire [6].
A machine gun of Muranaka exploded suddenly. The night sky became full of the airplanes with the paratrooper in a moment. These were the U.S. forces which were going to descend in サント = email = エグリーズ in the fight middle of Normandy. 15,000 soldiers consisting of U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division descended mainly in a village and the outskirts. Paratroopers of much 101st Airborne Division joined for the mistake of the descent, too.
Germans shot at paratroopers who descended on the ground, and one person left for the direction of the fire among them. Own parachute was caught on the spire of the church, and one of the paratroopers J Steele was employed in the same state for two hours. An intense fight was fought in his step [10]. At 12:30 at night, paratrooper Cliff dropped in front of the garden of the German house where an officer was as a lodge. The German officer found a paratrooper, but a life was saved because the owner of the house asked a German officer to assume him a captive. The German officer surrendered for a paratrooper later. As for paratroopers and soldiers who descended to the tree of linden tree in the edge of the open space who caught it there, and were falling down, all the members were killed [6].
At 4:30 a.m., the management of the center was entrusted to the 82nd Airborne Division. サント = email = エグリーズ became the France released from the sky's first commune.
The reinforcement forces from the Utah beach were concentrated in サント = email = エグリーズ immediately. The casualties of a large number of private citizens and officers appeared in サント = email = エグリーズ by the bombardment of the German military from June 6 to June 7.
The Free French second armored division which General of Re Clair commanded on August 1, 1944 struck the Utah beach, and, via サント = email = エグリーズ, inhabitants welcomed them. The second armored division participated in Operation cobra for アヴランシュ recapture afterwards.

Historic spot
- I build it from Notre Dame de アソンプション church (fr) -11 centuries through the 14th century. Corridor wings are Norman architecture in the eleventh century. The nave is twelfth century Gothic style. Designated history cultural assets than 1840 [14]. On corridor wings north wing, there are stained glass of archangel Mikhail donated by military retirement soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division 505th regiment and the stained glass which I described the figure of the Saint mother and the child and two paratroopers in.
