Tsuyama Line (luster is not precocious) is a pike of West Japan Railway Co. (West Japan Railway) reaching Tsuyama Station of Tsuyama-shi from Okayama Station of Kita-ku, Okayama-shi, Okayama (local transportation).

Summary
I constituted a Yin and Yang connecting line with Inbi Line, and the excellence trains such as the express "dunes" which linked Okayama Station - Tottori Station were run, but when the limited express train via the line came to be run by the opening of business of Chizu express Chizu Line, I lost the role as the Yin and Yang connecting line, and Tsuyama Line came to be devoted as a connecting line between cities.
Okayama branch office has jurisdiction over the whole line, and a line color and a route sign are introduced from March 26, 2016, and, as for the line color, bright golden yellow (■), route sign is T [1]; [2]. In addition, pink (■) was set as a line color originally before in branch office jurisdiction. The Okayama Station - Hokaiin Station interval in Okayama, Hiroshima areas of IC travel card "ICOCA" included in Okayama, the Fukuyama district [3].

The official starting point is Okayama Station, but a train toward Okayama Station from Tsuyama Station goes down the train scheduling top, and the opposite direction becomes upbound. This is because I put directions together to Kishin Line to connect at Sanyo Shinkansen, Sanyo Main Line, Uno Line, Kibi Line, Tsuyama Station connected at Okayama Station. In addition, there is the opinion which just succeeded to the notation of the "descent" "to go up it" that the Chinese railroad which is an establishment of a business industry of Tsuyama Line thought about around Tsuyama at the time of nationalization.
As of June 20, 2015, it is only usually driven with high speed "ことぶき" [6]. There was the train binding train which communicates Inbi Line, Kishin Line directly from Tsuyama Station, and links Okayama Station - Tottori Station and Okayama Station - Chugoku-Katsuyama Station together once, but an operating system is divided now at all Tsuyama Station.
Express "つやま" was abolished in time schedule revision of March 14, 2009 [7], and all the excellence trains of Tsuyama Line were in this way abolished. The express "dune" which linked Okayama Station - Tottori Station besides was run by Tsuyama Line until 1997 when limited express "Inaba" (current "super Inaba") by way of the Chizu express line started driving.
Normal
A train running through the whole line between Okayama Station - Tsuyama Station is set around one per hour, and Fukuwatari Station and the Kanagawa Station departure and arrival are set, too. Section train between Okayama Station - Hokaiin Station for attending school transportation is run if sent to Okayama from Nonoguchi on weekdays, Saturday. Headway may open in the station which later high speed passes for around two hours.
In addition, express "つやま" which the extension driving from Tsuyama Station to the Kishin Line Niimi area was carried out by a special train, and was set until March 13, 2009 during the period of "the Katsuyama Doll's Festival" in March, 2006 from Tsuyama Station as high speed to Niimi Station deferred; long; was run.
High speed "ことぶき"
In high speed "ことぶき," eight descents, seven up is run in the daytime between Okayama Station - Tsuyama Station at an interval for approximately two hours. Because there were a lot of lucky station names including Fukuwatari Station, Kome Station, Kamenoko Station, Kanagawa Station, Tanjoji Station along Tsuyama Line by a general open call for participants, it was named.
I attach the head mark of the kappa [8] to a train of high speed "ことぶき" and Kishin Line for the purpose of publicizing "Tsuyama enjoying the cool breeze ごんごまつり" opened in Tsuyama-shi in August in summer and run as "ごんちゃん" every year.
Because the express "dune" which I bound together with a new establishment of limited express "Inaba" who linked Okayama Station - Tottori Station in time schedule revision of November 29, 1997 via Chizu express line via our line between Okayama Station - Tottori Station was abolished, I started service with 1 express "つやま" coming and going. Because it was the substitute of the express train at first, the seat reserved seat was set, too. However, it was the ticketing with the handwriting supplement ticket at Fukuwatari Station before making it it, and Kanagawa Station, a nothing person had a problem on a use side without being able to purchase a reserved-seat ticket while it was a stop at Kanagawa Station, Fukuwatari Station and Yuge Station, Kamenoko Station where was handled as facility trust only at 3 Station of Okayama Station, Hokaiin Station, Tsuyama Station that there was a green window by Tsuyama Line. Besides, the seat did not change with an unreserved seat, and the piece of paper of the straw paper in hanshi size written as "a reserved seat" was only put on the window close to the seat at first, but a train not intended afterwards was updated on a described authorized sticker. They were criticized with "the worst reserved seat" by the sinfulness of excessive handling, and even the local media or magazine have been done in a topic. It is for this purpose or is gradually reduced and the setting of the reserved seat is abolished on March 7, 2001 and becomes all car unreserved seats.
The vehicle was limited use by two キハ 47 form formation of painting it for exclusive use of one of the service start Okayama train district diesel train center (current Okayama diesel train ward) position that I replaced an engine with the thing of 330PS specifications at first. In afterward when most of the engines of the キハ 47 form of the center position became the 330PS specifications, in "ことぶき," use by the 専用塗色車 two formation became basic, but such a use disappears by a painting change to cinnabar red 5 single color of the vehicle of the ward now afterwards.
Put it together for the holding of "the Katsuyama Doll's Festival" to be held every year in front of Chugoku-Katsuyama Station of Kishin Line in March from 2005 through 2007; and between Tsuyama Station - Chugoku-Katsuyama Station 1 coming and going deferred; long; ran it [9]; [10] [11]. In addition, it was carried out in the whole for a while during on Saturdays and holidays and a Bon vacation period in after July of the year during an "Okayama destination campaign" period started on April 1 until June 30 in 2007 because extension driving was performed [12], and this was popular.
In addition, Tsuyama Line had the time when a rapid train was set from 1970s through 1980s of Japanese National Railways Era, but a rapid train has not been operated by (as for this high speed, it is about time when it a "ことぶき" appearance of 1997 abolition [15]), Tsuyama Line because I was made local train later until high speed for Okayama from China Katsuyama was set afterwards in morning in 1988 [13].
A falling rock accident and the situation
A lot of falling rocks occur, and caution is carried out to run the mountains by Tsuyama Line [16].
A falling rock occurred between Tamagashi Station - Makiyama Station on February 26, 2005, and a train derailment accident to collide a forwarding train run with one キハ 40 form occurred (one driver gets injured); [17]. Reopened driving on March 14, the same year [18], but a falling rock occurred at another point of the same section on November 19, 2006, and a train derailment accident (Tsuyama Line train derailment accident) that Okayama going from Tsuyama passed it in the track which transformed and derailed occurred (25 passengers get injured); [19]. Because the falling rock was possible again, I took treatment to the rocks of the outbreak source, and a prevention of wire net, falling rock fence and a falling rock detection device were installed, but a falling rock detection device was installed in the place that might occur, and other falling rocks of the section reopened driving on March 18, 2007 [20].
At the place of the derailment happened in 2006, the cave-in of the road was discovered by Ochiishi in the prefectural road that ran side by side approximately one hour before a derailment. In the prefectural road, the police confirm the spot, and had suspension of traffic, but notification is notified of in the section where a road and a railroad approach at the time of the disasters such as falling rocks by falling rocks without reaching West Japan Railway when a disaster occurs to provide information for a road manager, railway company immediately as needed [21]; [22].
In addition, the trial that demanded a burden on 28,890,000 yen that was a part for the restoration expense was performed saying that I was liable for removal and the prevention of of the earth and sand collapse to a landowner in the derailment happened in 2005 for Okayama-shi that owned a slope where West Japan Railway fell, and the Okayama District Court gave Okayama-shi an order to start payment of 26,110,000 yen [23]. Okayama-shi expressed its disapproval of this judgment and appealed, but a settlement was established because Okayama-shi paid 14 million yen to West Japan Railway [24].
Use vehicle
キハ 40.47 form and a キハ 120 form 300th stand of the Okayama diesel train ward position are used. Use by the キハ 40.47 form becomes the main force at the present in March, 2016, and the use by the キハ 120 form 300th level which was frequent in [25] decreases for 2 coming and going just after the speedup construction (cf. history clause) completion of our line of 1996.
History
The private railroad that a Chinese railroad (iron bus out of one of the present) opened Tsuyama Line by the private railroad method as well as Kibi Line is origin, and most of are routes nationalized by the purchase in the wartime on June 1, 1944.
I it before the nationalization
The traffic of a person and the thing increased after the Meiji Restoration with Tsuyama of metropolis of Okayama and the Mimasaka district that were prefectural seat of Okayama. There was Tsuyama Highway (current National highway No. 53 and about the same route) that linked both cities for a long time, but there were difficult places such as 辛香峠. In addition, Asahikawa water system, Tsuyama were Yoshiikawa water systems, and I went north in Asahikawa and entered Tsuyama Highway at Fukuwata, or there was only a method such as going north, and entering Tsuyama at Innosho more to Ochiai, and, in Okayama, north and south traffic of Okayama at the time caused difficulty for the traffic of a person and the thing to use the mainstream water transportation (flat boat). Therefore, the laying of the railroad which was the latest transportation was planned, and a Chinese railroad was established on April 30, 1896.
A license of Okayama - Tsuyama - Katsuyama - Neu - Yonago went down in the same year, and I started work early in July, and Okayama-shi Station - Tsuyama Station (current Tsuyamaguchi Station) opened it as "China main line" on December 21, 1898. The Tsuyama Station beyond gave up construction, and the license lapsed, and it was built as Kishin Line and Hakubi Line later by a country. The opening of business section is almost form along Tsuyama Highway, but I avoid 辛香峠 of the difficult place, and the Hokaiin Station - Nonokuchi Station interval is built along Asahikawa. Because the construction did not depend on the technique of the country, the sections of a curve and the tunnel become the original standard. It is for this purpose now that a curve radius does not become the pure number.
The water transportation of Asahikawa by the flat boat would be granted by the seat of the leading role by the opening to traffic of the railroad and changed into the feeders from the node of Kanekawa and the railroad such as Fukuwata to the former end. Therefore, Kanekawa and Fukuwata will greatly prosper.
It was the train which a tank-type steam locomotive pulled at first, but a diesel train was introduced after 1930 and added it and Kibi Line and prepared Japanese National Railways regulation large car total number 17 at the same level as a car and was existence to manage it practically, and to be known for a steady design nationwide (I refer to "a purchase diesel train"). Besides, I introduced the vehicle with the rest room partly, and the passenger service standard was high. However, it was nationalized by the purchase in the wartime and became Tsuyama Line from a Chinese main line.
I it after the nationalization
The diesel train of the Chinese railroad was disposed of on a local private railroad after the war, and I was used for a long time, but very Tsuyama Line was run by the train which C11 form pulled by the excellence of the design.
A diesel train was spent in sequence in Japanese National Railways, and a diesel train came to return to Tsuyama Line again and was made smokelessness relatively early afterwards in the old Okayama Railway Bureau jurisdiction.
There was acceleration, the local depopulation of becoming it along the line and was rationalized local モータリーゼーション with maintenance, that of National highway No. 53 along the line, and exchange facilities were removed, and the train number was reduced, and convenience gradually turned worse afterwards. Therefore, speedup remodeling (I get through revival and the line of exchange facilities), the injection of the キハ 120 form 300th stand were carried out by the fund burden on local government along the line and the donation of inhabitants in 1996, and shortening and increase of the number of in the time required were performed. In addition, I take the action to the speedup of our line into account when Tottori and Shimane speed up San'in Main Line later.
