Career

In 1948, I receive life in Sendai-shi, Miyagi under the alliance national military occupation, Japan [1]. The father George Casey senior will be killed in action by the Vietnam War as divisional commander first cavalry soldier in officers of the seventh Infantry Division stationed in Japanese soil as an Operation Army corps later.

The Casey youth brought up as a son of military ブラット (English version) namely the officer was deep-a point according to a transfer of father in the mainland U.S., all parts of the world including Germany from Japan. I graduate from Boston college high school (English version) of Massachusetts Dorchester (English version) on the U.S. mainland. I was not able to achieve the entering afterwards though I applied for a military academy. I obtain the master's degree (Master of Arts) about international relations in the BSc (Bachelor of Science) about international relations in Denver University in Georgetown University in 1980 in 1970. In addition, there is the experience that acted by his cause at one time when Vince Lombardi acted as a coach of Washington Redskins [2].

In 1970, I participate in a reserve officer training course (ROTC) with graduation of Georgetown University and become a military officer. The combatant was a mechanization foot soldier (Mechanized Infantry). He acted as the first cavalry soldier division third brigade (English version) head, and is the first armored division of the stationing in Germany; assistant divisional commander movement round charge (Assistant Division Commander – Assistant Maneuver) and support charge divisional commander (Assistant Division Commander – I acted as Suppor). I was dispatched to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a member of the peace observance of a contract corps based on the Operation joint Endeavour from July, 1996 to August, 1997. I worked during dispatch in the command post of スラヴォンスキ ブロド. In July, 1999, I take office as Mayor of first armored division.

I withdraw from the seat of the divisional commander in July, 2001 and work as a chief of the bureau of the strategic planning, policy station (J-5) in the Joint Chiefs of Staff from September of the year to January, 2003. From January, 2003 to September, 2003 Secretary General of Joint Chiefs of Staff (English version). I act as President the 30th army vice-staff officer (English version) afterwards until June, 2004.

Living-in-Iraq multinational force

Casey acted as a commander of the living-in-Iraq multinational force as a successor of the Ricardo Sanchez (English version) lieutenant general from July, 2004 to 2007 [1]. The aim of Casey was to let you succeed responsibility of the current problem and peace and order maintenance and authority smoothly to the Iraqi side. He reduced the activity of U.S. forces progressively while letting you train the cause of the authority as the commander, the Iraqi security force and shifted to the Iraq side in peace and order maintenance duty. When the foreign affairs station in the United States (English version) began support of the election for the government rebuilding in Iraq, I show the opinion "that the intervention that is large-scale so as to be pushy by the United States does not solve this state politics, security problem, and rather he just gives the reason of the revolt".

In 2005, Casey planned United States Armed Forces corps reduction in early 2006 in form to be parallel to the training of the Iraqi security force expecting parliamentary election (English version) of December leading to stability of Iraq. In panel discussion of August of the year, Casey showed some names of the military unit which might withdraw on the occasion of force reduction. He spoke it then saying that he succeeded a role in the Iraqi security force to be able to reduce the United States Armed Forces force of approximately 138,000 people approximately 30,000 by early 2006. U.S. President George W. Bush at the time performs severe attention for his remark saying that the claim of Casey is only a supposition to the last. In addition, the opposition between denominations deepened by bomb terrorism for the Al = Ascari temple (English version) of next Samarra, and the plan of Casey about situation stability by the coalition government establishment and the transfer of the peace and order duty was forced to a large correction [3]. In addition, I announce the statement to criticize military power reinforcement to Iraq in January, 2007 [4].

Chief of Staff of the Army

On February 10, 2007, Casey transferred a job of the Commander living-in-Iraq multinational force to David ペトレイアス general and left Iraq. On April 10, I take office as the 36th Chief of Staff of the Army as a successor of the Peter Shoemaker (English version) general [5].

During a period from April, 2007 when Casey worked as the Chief of Staff of the Army to 2011, the Army of the United States had approximately 11,000 staff and annual budget for 20 million dollars. He instructed two war in the term of office of 6 years and switched the army which assumed conventional war to the organization with the mobility suitable for war of the 21st century.

He tried for the reinforcement of the army and promoted expansion of the support for increase, the officer of the holding the post allowance for young officers (Retention Bonus) and the officer family, expansion of the support to the war disabled. In addition, I call education improvement of the high-quality officer corps, the adoption of the rotation-style front development program like the Marine Corps, army guardsman, and achievements of Casey include remedial education of the army reserve duty.

In November, 2009, I received outbreak of the shooting rampage (2009 Fort Hood shooting incident (English version)) by the psychiatrist ニダル Malik Hasan (English version) major of the Muslim, and Casey told, "I can call myself the great shame if this case was great tragedy, and our variety was violated again" saying that it was "true tragedy" that "variety" (diversity) was injured [6]. By the interview of February, 2010, I tell, "it will be a great mistake if I hide big power, and our variety that is variety of not only the army but also our country shivers with this terrible tragedy, and our variety is sacrificed" [7]. Received criticism later saying that such a remark was excessive consideration to so-called political correctness [8]; [9].

On April 11, 2011, I succeed the Chief of Staff of the Army's post to General Martin Dampsey and retire from the army. The military retirement ceremony of Casey was held in Fort Myer (English version).

I live in Massachusetts シチュエート (English version) after military retirement [10].
