PTR91 is an automatic for the public welfare of the United States of America. PTR industry (PTR Industries, Inc) prepares it, and PTR means "precision target rifle" (Precision Target Rifle). It is one of the rifles derived from G3 of ヘッケラー & Koch Corporation.

History
The HK91 and a half automatic which was one of the consumer models of H&K G3 produced it in the United States and was sold once.
However, in 1994, "law (Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act) about the protection in the use of firearms of public security and the entertainment", a popular name "アサルトウェポン regulation law" () are passed as a temporary legislation until 2004. As for the original HK91 rifle, the handling in production in the United States and the public welfare firearms market was in this way prohibited. It is prohibited by the cause of the embargo method in 1989 that I import HK91 made in Germany into the United States prior to this, and H&K Corporation cancels the production of the semiautomatic HK91 rifle afterwards more. As a result, demand for public welfare type G3 increased very much in the United States. PTR91 having the function that was the approximately same as HK91 was developed depending on such a demand.
In 2002, JLD enterprise company (JLD Enterprises) purchased machine parts, a design drawing from Portuguese H&K company license production factory and started the production of the PTR91 rifle which I designed again in order to adapt this to the アサルトウェポン regulation method. This regulation conformity model of the muzzle wrenched it off, and wore it, and a sword device, an adjustable gunstock and a high volume magazine were removed. PTR91 produced in very early days was the design that was the approximately same as HK91 except a correction based on such a regulation. When the アサルトウェポン regulation method expired in 2004, I updated the design in form to draw a regulated point near to military G3 in JLD company. The new improvement was added and achieved the function that was approximately equal to original HK91 before long. The production of PTR-91 in JLD company greatly depended on the import of military surplus parts of G3/HK91 at first. Therefore is very high between the parts of HK91 and PTR91; is compatible.
In 2005, JLD company was purchased by PTR-91 company established newly (PTR-91 Inc). Jose Diaz (Jose Diaz) who was the founder of JLD company and a manager remained in PTR-91 Corporation as a main partner, but left the office at the end of 2010. PTR-91 company performed the big switch of management policies and aimed at the realization of a breakaway from the assembling of surplus parts and the in-house production of each part afterwards. The company performed the mass purchase of a production apparatus, facilities from 2011 through 2012 in order to achieve this aim. It produces all parts of the PTR91 rifle now in company factory of Connecticut Bristol in the company. In addition, the company changes a company name to PTR Industries, Ltd. (PTR Industries, Inc) several years ago.

- It is a standard model of the PTR91 series and comprises 18 inches of heavy-barrels for the shooting and rigid plastic gunstock. Each high-ranking model is designed in form to add various options to 91F, e.g., one of the models PTRMSG91 for the middle range shooting comprises 18 inches of flute processing finished heavy-barrels, and a function for precision shooting such as two, a rail system, an adjustment type gunstock is added. In 2010, the derivation type PTR 32 series of 7.62x39mm bullet specifications was announced.
