History
- I practice medicine as - "馬里勿乗降場" on March 8, 1914.

"馬里勿" (マリバシ) which is the original name of 萬栄 is a meaning of the uphill slope by a language of net group. The Japanese Government established 馬里勿乗降場 (1914) on March 8 in 1914 at Japanese rule time to transport wood of the Hayashida forest ground. This is the beginning of this station. I changed my name in a Japanese style substitute character with 萬里橋驛 in (1918) in 1918. Made volost was established with the reorganization of the governorate, and, after World War II, this station changed its name with Made station on January 15, 1952 because the location was Made volost. Because Made same name town existed in Taipei County, I changed my name with 萬栄郷 on June 1, 1958, and this station changed its name in 萬栄駅, too. 改軌新線 of the east side was completed in 1982 and rebuilt this station at the same time in a new station building of the steel reinforced concrete because a wooden station building of the Japanese rule time became obsolete.
Past prosperity
This station was full of height of interest at the time of wood transportation from the Mt. Hayashida of the 1960-1970 generation most. The traveler from Mt. Hayashida forest railway was full of the carriage of goods of the wood without dying out every day, and a train of 各級 stopped all at the time of most like stations such as Otori forest, light return Mizuho, Tamasato, east village, Tomisato, Ikegami, Sekiyama, Shikano, Inaba (praise rich).
