Breeding and early career

"ルーラル Felicita" in the Georgia Camden county was a farm (supreme bliss of the rural district), and Hardy was born as a child of the married couple of Sarah Ellis and the Major John Hardy. I graduated from a military academy of the West Point by the 26th results during 45 synchronization in 1838, and I was appointed by the second lieutenant of the second American dragoon regiment [2]. When I fell illness and was hospitalized, at the time of Seminole war (from 1,835 years to 42 years), an encounter got married in Elizabeth ダメット. I let the army sent Hardy to France in 1840 and study the military tactics when I recovered from a disease [3].

At the time of American-Mexican War, I was embedded with the occupation army of Zachary General Taylor and carried out the honor promotion of lieutenant colonel and two times by a honorary major, the Battle of St. Augstine by Medellin and a Veracruz siege war. I became a captive by a fight of カリシトス of April 25, 1846 and was released by a prisoner exchange of May 11 [2]. I entered to Winfield General Scot successively and got injured in Lalo Shea in 1847 [3]. I led a military unit of Texas Rangers after the war in Texas.

After a wife died in 1853, I came back to West Point and acted as an instructor of the tactics and became the principal of the military academy for 1856 through 1860. It was the lieutenant colonel of the first United States cavalry division right before I served as a senior major when the second American cavalry division (renamed to the fifth United States cavalry division later) was formed in 1855 followed by the Civil War began [2]. In 1855, I published "the tactics of life and the peltast about training and the chastity forces of the military unit when I acted as peltast or a rifle soldier" by an order of secretary of the army Jefferson Davis and generally spread out as "the tactics of Hardy" and came to be known as a training manual of the Civil War [3].

War by the Civil War

Hardy was discharged from U.S. Army on January 31, 1861 after Georgia of the country of birth withdrew from the United States of America [2]. I entered the Confederate Army as a colonel on March 7, and the conduct of Alabama Morgan fort and the Gaines's fort was left. I was promoted to a major general afterwards on brigadier general, October 7 on June 17. Of the lieutenant general that the Confederate Army is the first by October 10, 1862 became alone [2]. The first duty as the general was to organize one of Arkansas regiments brigade and solved a difficult problem of the supplies supply and impressed the officer of the soldier and friend by putting perfect training for the brigade. I got a nickname called "reliable old man" (Old Reliable) at the age of this commander. After having gone to the front in Arkansas, I was called as Commander of army corps in the Mississippi military of the Albert Johnston general and participated in a fight of the shy low. I was wounded in an arm by this fight of April 6, 1862 [2]. Johnston was killed in action in shy low, and the army corps of Hardy entered under Tennessee military conduct of the General Braxton Bragg.

By the fight of the Perry Building of 1862, Hardy commanded the left-winger of the Bragg forces. By the fight of the Stones river said to that Hardy succeeded most in December of the year, the second army corps wrote a great mass raid in the military of the Federal army William Rosecrans major general and they chased it to the brink of defeat and did it. After タラホーマ area strategy, Hardy could not bear short-tempered Bragg and commanded the Mississippi east Louisiana area forces with Joseph Johnston general for a short term. During this time, I married plantation owner Mary Forman Lewis of Alabama in encounter, January, 1864.

Hardy returned to the Bragg forces after a fight of チカマウガ and succeeded army corps of the Leonidas pork in Tennessee Chattanooga and surrounded the Federal army there. When a military unit of the Major General Federal army George Henry Thomas hung an attack for the defense round that it seemed that it was impregnable of ミッショナリーリッジ, by the fight of the third Chattanooga of November, 1863, the Hardy army corps of the Tennessee military suffered defeat.

Hardy reopened a protest movement about serving it with Bragg and joined the group of officers who shared will and let you finally persuaded President United States allied powers Jefferson Davis and dismiss the old friend. By the Atlanta area strategy of 1864, Joseph Johnston general commanded the Confederate Army. When Johnston repeated the chastity forces and withdrawal for Major General Federal army William shaman, I could not bear the American allied powers and replaced a commander with more aggressive John Bell Hood lieutenant general. Hardy was not able to stand a rash offensive of Hood and a big loss. After the fight of the Jones rose of August 31 and September 1, I called for transfer and became the transfer of a census register to area military commander of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Against the march to the sea of the shaman, I did every possible resistance in an inappropriate military unit, but finally evacuated the Georgia savanna on December 20 [3]. When a shaman shifted the position by calorina area strategy to the north, Hardy participated in a fight of the North Carolina Benton Building of March, 1865, but an only alone son was killed in action by cavalry soldier round there. Hardy surrendered to a shaman in Durham station with Johnston on April 26.

Postwar

Hardy entered the plantation of Alabama of the wife after the war. After having returned there to a state to work, the family moved to Alabama Selma and ran warehouse business and an insurance there. Finally, I became the president of the Selma and メリディアン railroad. I became a collaborator in "the American Irishmen" who published it in 1868. When I visited the summer resort of West Virginia white monkey fur springs in families in 1873, I got sick and died in Virginia Wise Building. I am buried in the live oak graveyard of Selma [2].
