Toda rowing ground (June, 2007)

Toda rowing place (とだそうていじょう) is a rowing course in Todakoen of Toda-shi, Saitama. Another name "Toda boat course." I am appointed in National training center boat reinforcement base facilities.

As for the ridership of paid facilities (rowing ground, meeting room, lodging) of (2014), 80,739 / year, use charges income were the 4,520,450 yen / year in 2014 [¹].

Among waterways of East-West approximately 2,500m, 500m from Todakoen Ohashi to the west end is used as Toda motorboat race ground.

History

I built it for river improvement measures of (1937), boat venue of Tokyo Olympics (1940) and Arakawa in 1937 and was started [²]. However, the use in OLYMPIC disappeared because Japan returned the holding right of OLYMPIC by the reason of intensification of the Japan-China War (China incident) [²]. But because there was the aspect of river improvement measures, I could continue the construction while reducing a scale and was completed in (1940) in 1940 [²].

Because it became the meeting place of held Tokyo Olympics (1964) (1964) in 1964, I did widening construction and neighboring maintenance [¹]. The name called the OLYMPIC Street is added to an adjacent road.

Facilities

Originally the water went down from the Sasame River at the west end of a course, but the water gate of that purpose has not opened after the Tokyo Olympics. Therefore, I am made from rainwater and springs now. As for the length of the surface of the water, the east one is grandiosity for 2.5km from elevated near Shinkansen and Saikyo Line. The suspension bridge for the walker called Todakoen Ohashi hangs over the point of 500m from the west end, and it is used as motorboat race ground about the west by the bridge. National sports science center Toda boathouse, Tachido, Saitama field boathouse are at the east end of the surface of the water, and the boathouses of the business corps team such as Tokyo University and Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tsukuba University, Keio University, Waseda University, Nippon University, Hitotsubashi University, the Tokyo College of Economics, the boathouse of universities such as Nippon College of Health and Physical Education or the Mitsubishi boathouse line up.

Course

The Toda rowing ground becomes 1-6, the shipping lane (I may be called 0 lanes) from the north side. An outward trip, 4-6, a shipping lane become the return journey a 1-3 lane, and 艇 which is late in an outside lane 艇 which is fast in an inside lane is to usually advance. When a race is carried out in a course, a shipping lane becomes the outward trip, and a 1-6 lane becomes the return journey (race track). • The 0-km mark - 500-km mark

I am located the west most. When a 2,000m race is carried out, it becomes the place that here starts from. Because this area becomes the Toda motorboat race ground, it is closed at the time of the motorboat race holding. Todakoen Ohashi is built over the 500-km mark.

• The 500-km mark - 1000-km mark

It is located on the east side of Todakoen Ohashi. Because facilities of the motorboat race ground disappear from here, accompaniment is enabled.

• The 1000-km mark - 1500-km mark

The 1000-km mark becomes the start point in the 1,000m race. The bank of the south side of the 500-km mark - 1500-km mark becomes the upper section, 2 laminar structure of the lower berth. People of accompaniment usually often run in the lower berth, but will run at the upper section because the meeting staff often uses the lower berth at the time of the race mainly.

• The 1500-km mark - 2000-km mark

The bank of the south side of this area becomes the embankment and is like opening than the 500-km mark - 1500-km mark. In addition, a boathouse and a seat of Chuo University and Saitama, management ridges form a line in the south side of this area.

• 2000-km mark and to the east

Road

Fishing

I was prohibited from fishing totally, but the boat course was once famous now as Mecca of the fishing (fishing is prohibited in the motorboat race ground area than before). I had abundant prawn or gobies in the 50, Showa generation, and around pier at the east end of boat course 沿 no on a holiday was full in a large number of anglers and families. There were many primary and secondary students which had fun of a lure becoming common in those days.

Main meeting

Including an all-Japan championship and student championship, civic meeting and the meeting (regatta in the study) in the university, all Mitsubishi regattas are carried out every year. I begin in (1920) in 1920, and the game of the Kaisei high school which is an interschool competition boat race meeting to boast of the longest history to in Japan vs. the Tsukuba University attached high school continues being performed here for dozens of years.
