Throne war

A shogi game of the shogi that the throne war (I chase I do not shirr it) is hosted by association of three local papers (Hokkaido Shimbun Press, Chunichi Shimbunsha (Chunichi Shimbunsha, Tokyo Shimbun), Nishi-Nippon Shimbun) and Kobe Shimbun, Tokushima newspaper publisher. It is performed every year from July through September. The winner of "the throne war seventh game" is called the throne and becomes a titleholder.

"Three cup Class B selection tournaments" developed in 1960 and were dissolved and became the fourth title.

Method

I decide a challenger by a qualifier, a challenger decision league, a challenger jump-off. The challenger fights against the throne by a throne war seventh game.

At the time limit, a qualifier, a challenger decision league, a challenger jump-off is for each four hours. The seventh game performs a sealed move in two days system of 8 hours at the end of the first day at the time limit.

Qualifier

  • It is the tie which all shogi players except four (and a person of throne reign) of the seed and two fair sex shogi players (person of fair sex throne reign and fair sex throne war challenger) participate in.
  • The tournament list is divided into eight mountains, and eight people who fought successfully through each mountain in total go into the challenger decision league.

By other shogi games, a lower qualifier is often exempted titleholder and the Class A shogi player from, but there is not such a higher shogi player seed by the throne war at all [1], and all shogi players except four seeds (and a person of throne reign) from last year appear by two rounds of qualifiers. Therefore I have characteristic that the upset at the qualifier stage is easy to be caused than other shogi games.

Challenger decision league

  • By six people are divided in two by the league of two red and white, and eight 12 people who fought successfully through four seeds (the loser of the first half year seventh game and people more than 2 the results in each first-term league) and qualifier in total perform a round-robin.
  • The champion of each league advances to the challenger jump-off. A champion and the person of the results second place become the league remaining and get the seed right of the next term. Results suffer from the person of the 3-6 rank the league fall.
  • When several become the victory or defeat same number by results of the top, I decide two high ranks by the following rules (than the 56th).
    1. When I line up by four wins one defeat, I perform a play-off regardless of the number of the applicable people. In the case of three people first half year results (first half year league win＞I select a seed person in qualifier win) in the first half year, and one round serves as a residual jump-off.
    2. Results of the direct confrontation to correspond to when I line up by three wins two defeats＞First half year results (first half year league win＞I decide a champion, the holdover which is qualifier win) in the first half year. Still of the difference when do not arrive, perform a jump-off.

Challenger jump-off

I point only to one game between the champions of each red-and-white league, and the winner becomes a challenger.

Throne war seventh game

The winner of the challenger jump-off plays with the throne the seventh. The seventh game is carried out in an inn or a restaurant of each place (mainly a publication area of sponsorship each magazine) of the whole country.

Past method

  • To the 17th, six people, a challenger decision league were carried out in ten people (they distribute five people to two sets) a qualifier passage frame.
  • Order was determined to the 55th by the following rules.
    • Four seeds assume it the first place, the second place of each league list. The first place of the Red Branch league list assumes it the loser of the game for the seventh in the first half year, and the group of innocence league table 1 rank does it with the loser of the challenger jump-off in the first half year [2].
    • I perform the play-off by all the people who lined up in the star how many people lined up again regardless of whether there is league list order between different people [3].
    • Even if it is the number of the same victory or defeat, about the fall from the league, a high-ranking person remains behind in a league list with precedence. When league table 3 rank lines up in the border line of the fall, a residual jump-off is carried out.
      • When people of the league table 3 rank line up at the number of the victory or defeat top with a person of the first place .2 rank as an exception and win it by a play-off and advance to the challenger jump-off, it is remaining regardless of the order of the league list and is treated with the first place in a league list in the next term [4].

Eternity throne

The shogi player who held the throne more than ten sittings in total or consecutive five sittings is given the eternity throne who is an eternity title. As of January, 2008, the shogi player that the eternity throne has Yasuharu Oyama, Makoto Nakahara, a qualification of the eternity throne is Zenji Habu.

Each generation seventh game, challenger decision league
