Summary

In a hill of Otani, I was constructed by the Mount Raiden summit of 90 meters above sea level. Laying earth on the ground is done, and other part begins to sharpen a natural hill, and stairhead of 後円部 is developed land only for. The shape of the mound is similar to the Mt. Nara, young girl old burial mound. It became clear that being constitution, gravel spread all over an old mound being given the front region top, a fourfold clay image line rotated in an investigation of 1984 in three steps of mounds. It is an exhumation example of the clay image which is the oldest in Saitama. A clay image line of the pyramid roof is confirmed in 後円部墳頂, and it is thought that there are burial facilities in the center. The main body is thought to be 粘土槨 or 木棺直葬. I appoint it on the historic spot of the city as "3,000 mound old burial mounds group" in 1956 (31, Showa) years. The excavated clay image is appointed to the important cultural property (archaeology document) of the city in 2004 (16, Heisei) years.

Excavated article

A morning glory form clay image, a burial mound cylindrical figure, a container stand type clay image were confirmed. These clay images can be called the another thing with it which is known generally; is specific. ハケメ tool is used for surface adjustment neither, and, as for this, a shape is not specific, and it may be said that I am made with a technique near unglazed earthenware rather than a clay image. Because a black speckle indicating the burning off a field production is recognized, I am estimated to be production of the early fifth century. These clay images are displayed now in the Saitama Prefectural history and a folk museum.
