Geography
It links Funairi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima-shi district and the Nishi-ku Kannon district. Close to the bridge, there is National highway No. 2 new Kannon bridge built in 1962. The new Kannon Bridge was taken as a substitute of the Kannon Bridge, but it was originally used together after completion more than 40 years. In addition, the connection point of new Hiroshima bypass and the Nishihiroshima bypass is near, too. There is Hiroshima that there is Funairihonmachi mall on the extension line of the Kannon Bridge, and is appointed in the emergency hospital in Hiroshima-shi in the outskirts City Funairi municipal hospital.
Those days in the service
The first bridge was completed in 1928 (there are 1913 and the opinion to do). I was used as an attending school road of the done at first Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima second junior high school (existing Kannon Senior High School). A supporting beam bent in a typhoon of 1944, and I endured atom bomb throwing down (from the center of an explosion approximately 1.45km) of August, 1945, and it was in the evacuation route of the A-bomb victim and endured Makurazaki typhoon in September, but fell by a flood in October. It was restored to the bridge of the photograph in 1951.
It was prohibited from a supporting beam part sinking with deterioration in the 1960s the traffic of the car, but continued being used afterwards as a bridge for exclusive use of a walker and the bicycle as a life way of inhabitants nearby. The new Kannon Bridge has an incline, and this is because it is in the roundabout way to go to the Funairi Hospital again. In addition, in front of the bridge, the signboard to call to cross the new Kannon Bridge at the time of heavy rain and flood, strong wind, earthquake was put up. 2000 begins; the specificity of the bridge "zooming in took it even in morning!" and was given. However, the service was canceled having June 17, 2002 by further deterioration saying that I was in danger of the collapse of bridge. The person who used the Kannon Bridge will pass new Kannon Bridge in the side of upper reaches until now.
When service is canceled, the voice of the substitute broke out than between a citizen, too, but does not come true at present.
I it until the dismantling after in-service cancellation
I did it with a temporary fence, a fence lasting afterwards No thoroughfare more than one year, but, after in-service cancellation of June 17, 2002, bridge in itself remained for the time being. However, Hashimoto body was dismantled at the end of 2005, and the supporting beam was removed by the end of 2006, too.
I dismantle it after in-service cancellation and pos it
It leaves a feature at the time that only the part that the bridge was it in the access way to a bridge remaining for the trace that there was of the bridge and piling-stones of the building a breakwater lowers without staying in the field about the Hashimoto body as of July, 2008. Construction to match the piling-stones of the building a breakwater with other places than the progress of shore protection works, and to raise quantity advances.
