Esashi-cho (I let you obtain it and grow) is a town facing the Sea of Japan in the Hiyama, Hokkaido Promotion Bureau central part. The location of the Hiyama Promotion Bureau. It is place name Esashi (esasi) meaning a cape by Ainu, and an origin of the names of a street is the etymology same as Esashi-cho of the Soya synthesis Promotion Bureau [1]. "Esashi, Hiyama" to "Esashi of Southern Hokkaido" call Esashi-cho "Esashi, Kitami" and often distinguish our town by the weather forecasts of the broadcasting station. The Oiwake, Esashi birthplace.

Area 109.57 km². It is located in the Hiyama jurisdiction central part. The western part faces the Sea of Japan and has the river mouth of the Assabu River. The eastern part is a mountainous area. Climate
I am appointed in the heavy snowfall area, but am relatively warm under the influence of Tsushima Current flowing through the coast. I belong to 温暖湿潤気候 (Cfa) same as Honshu in the division into climatic zones of Koeppen, but am comparative coolness in the summer. History
- 26 - Esashi, Hiyama-gun city and five wins hand village (state of things irregularity) are merger, first class municipality organization, Esashi-cho, Hiyama-gun (1900) for 1,900 years.
- - Esashi-cho, Hiyama-gun and Tomari-mura (Tomari irregularity) abolish it (1955) in 1955 and establish Esashi-cho newly.
Local one which opened out earliest in Hokkaido along with Hakodate-shi, Matsumae-cho. In the Edo era, it prospered so as to be said to be it at the fishing ground of the herring and port of trade such as the hinoki hiba arborvitaes with the goods-carrying merchant ship saying "there is not the azalea of Esashi in Edo either". It was the feudal tenure of the Matsumae feudal clan, but, in the case of Boshin War, received the occupation of the old Shogunate escape forces (1868) in 1868. The Kaiyou circle that was a capital ship of the old Shogunate navy ran aground off Esashi and sank on this occasion. After establishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains, I belonged to Aomori for 1:00 period, but I transferred it to the Bureau of Development Hakodate Subprefectural Office in (1872) in 1872 and abolished a town official and put a town office.
