Catherine lizard fish

The Catherine lizard fish (Katherine Esau, from April 3, 1898 to June 4, 1997) is a German American botanist.

She was born in the home of German メノナイト in ドニプロペトロウシク of Russian Empire (as for the present Ukrainian) [¹]. She emigrated to California, and, after the Russian Revolution, as for the family, she completed a doctoral course there afterwards Germany of the mother country in 1931. I did a birch from 1963 through 1992 in University of California Santa Barbara school.

The lizard fish may be the plant anatomist who is the greatest alone in the 20th century of the pioneer of plant anatomy. Her book Plant Anatomy and Anatomy of Seed Plants are important textbooks about the structure of the plant during these past 40 years.

She became the sixth woman elected in 1957 by National Academy of Sciences and won American nation science Prize in 1989. The Catherine lizard fish prize to commend the student who wrote the best article in American Botanical Society is associated with her name.

The lizard fish was a superior researcher and was a superior teacher, author. By calm personality, I did not get married for life kindly, but I gave the life to the science and gave many achievements and gave woman scientists of the world hope.

I can see most of her writing in the コーネリウス Hellman Muller library of the University of California Santa Barbara school.

The lizard fish died in California Santa Barbara on June 4, 1997.
