プブリウス パピニウス スタティウス (Publius Papinius Statius, about 45 -96 age) is a poet of Rome imperial government period.
Life
I was born in Naples in about A.D. 45. Father who was from ヴェーリア, and was a poet won the championship at a competition of many poetry held in a various places throughout the Roman Empire several times. I learn poetry from father. I begin to participate in a competition of the poetry from childhood and distinguish myself. I want to be in emperor ドミティアヌス, and スタティウス is and receives a gold crown directly than the emperor. When I lived in Roma, I announce epic "テーバイド" and create a big sensation. Furthermore, I finished writing 32 "シルウァエ" which consisted of the poetry. I retired from the world in hometown Naples in the later years and wrote epic "Aki lace", but it was unfinished and was over because I died in the ground.
I affect ボッカッチョ and Chaucer later, and スタティウス comes up in "Divine Comedy" of Dante again. [2]
