レイルロードタイクーン (British: Railroad Tycoon) is a management simulation game, and five versions exist so far. It was the game which シド Mayer designed, and it was released by マイクロプローズ. There is it with "タイクーン", but the association cries with the game which there is of released "タイクーン" from same マイクロプローズ (Chris Soyer designs トランスポートタイクーン).

Purpose of the game
Because a product runs the railroad company, the purpose of the game lays a track and builds the station and purchases a railroad carriage, and it is said that I set a diamond. You must build a railroad within a period of time to win.
レイルロードタイクーン
It is an original edition released in 1990. As initial setting of the companies, I can choose Western U.S., middle western district, northeastern part, England (including the South) from Europe.
The player promotes industry to accompany it by adjusting the movement of individual vehicles while running the company like statement above. The railroad company fighting against each other appears for the game.
1 million dollars is given with the initial state, but is half a debt. The player can add a fund by selling a bond of face value 500,000 dollars, and the price of bond fluctuates by the economic conditions in the game.
レイルロードタイクーンデラックス
The extension which was released in 1993. Though new function and graphics were improved, performance was bad, and this printing block did not sell very much.
It is a game same as レイルロードタイクーン, but graphics becomes the high definition more, and the sound effects are added basically, too. In addition, South America and an African map were added, and the local special freight was added. The setting is available in the times when a peace officer catching steam locomotive, train robbery, it appears, too.
シド Mayer does not participate in a design about this version.
レイルロードタイクーン II
By a sequel released in 1998, graphics and a game are developed more. The right of the name of レイルロードタイクーン was released after the acquisition PopTop Software by Gathering of Developers where the company participated in.
Some of functions that the beginning was for it are omitted. For example, I cannot build a tunnel and the signal tower. On the contrary, there is the part which opens up a mountain range, and was added.
It was for Dreamcast and became the complete three-dimensional indication.
Africa, North America, Germany, the Swiss Alps, a large number of new scenarios including the South American jungle were added. Most of scenarios for an original of this is for it.
The expansion packs mainly on the future scenario were added later from the present age, too. "The レイルロードタイクーン II: gold" which I bundled expansion packs with was released more, and Platinum Edition where I added a scenario of the user making to more came up.
Millennium Edition was released temporarily in 2000. This is a cheap edition of Gold Edition, and a map editor and a detailed manual are not bundled.
レイルロードタイクーン III
The sequel which was released in 2003. The graphics is refined by complete three-dimensional indication, too and supports a viaduct and a tunnel. There is a change that the price of product varies according to an area, or the transportation means except the railroad come up, and to conflict. However, I was not able to change the topography by laying a track.
The expansion packs were released in the form that they could download in 2004. A new scenario and a new vehicle are added.
It is シド Mayer railroad
The version that was released in October, 2006. It is the version that シド Mayer is after a long absence, and affected a design. I have abundant scenarios which assumed North America and Europe the stage, and the point of view of industrial than a past version, bringing it up weakens. User interface of the track laying that is complete 3D-Graphics (but there is not a car window mode such as "the Take the 'A' Train series") is improved by a real-time method.
