Table of contents

Summary

It is a display facility showing a work and a studio trace of Shippo of Yasuyuki Namikawa located to the straight north of the authority of Article 3 to soon of Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi at the north end. Speaking of "Shippo, redecorate the building built as the residence of Shippo writer, Yasuyuki Namikawa that the name has been recognized [2] and a studio with Sosuke Namikawa of Tokyo as "Namikawa"" out of Japan; more than 130 points of works of Yasuyuki possession [3]. In the residence, a garden becoming the product of seventh generation, Jihee Ogawa, also known as "植治" is left.

Building

Originally there was a house of Yasuyuki in the ground, but was favorable condition of the receiving a prize at the exhibition represented (1889) in Paris World Exposition in 1889 with an opportunity to start in new construction and the designed garden of the house by gold medal receiving a prize and the Shippo business [4]. I make laying the roof (1893) on April 26 in 1893 and I am completed (1894) on November 15 in 1894 and show it. I become clear with carpenter, Yonekichi Nishimura, hand biography, Inosuke Kawai than followed Gohei beating in a hut bunch. "The hand biography" here is an all-rounder concerned with building works and is a job said to that the good or bad controls the result of the construction. With the オモテヤ structure [5] of an insect basket window, a low fence, Mise conveying one character tile and the Kyoto Townhouse where I tied two ridges of the Omo shop to at the entrance, a central room, a studio, a kiln is registered with the registration tangible cultural property of the country [6]. The factory was two in those days, and, other than the factory of the northeast side that existed, there was already one on the southeast side of the main building where I caught the pond where it was now outside a memorial in. However, the studio of the northeast side was redecorated into the second exhibition room with the opening without this being demolished in (1995) in 1995, and existing. An indoor design includes a copy of Shoren-in Temple (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi) or Shugaku-in Rikyu Imperial Villa (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto-shi), and an idea of Yasuyuki Namikawa who served His Imperial Highness Prince Asahiko Kuninomiya is indicated. Because there are many visitors from the Japanese foreign territory, I assume inside dimensions (height from the threshold to a lintel) six shakus (approximately 182cm) and take in the glazed sliding door which I had the glass of import goods on in the porch and do a brightly opening-like preparation [5].

Garden

A garden [4] where Yasuyuki called it "Paris garden" for Paris World Exposition mentioned above. It was neighboring and was close to Yasuyuki [7], and seventh generation, Jihee Ogawa (popular name, 植治) who dealt undertook construction by the relations. For 植治 in its mid-30s, the designed garden of the trap country tray figure Namikawa's house that work of the gardening wagged by the blast of the disturbance after the revolution was a turning point and the important work that it was. The characteristic of the designed garden garden of 植治 is a pulse-like design using the abundant water obtained from the Lake Biwa channeling to be completed in (1890) in 1890, but this garden can see the portent [8].

The garden of the Namikawa's house pulls water from running off water for abrasion of Shippo [5], and 余水 flows into the pond. The garden around this pond used garden landscape stone and a garden lantern, the stone including the washbowl taking intention of Yasuyuki of the landowner into account abundantly; make it [5]. In the pond, the carp which Yasuyuki liked is hit. A certain tree has little designed garden from the first, but there is the Japanese red pine located in the pivot of the garden from those days, and it is a way of 植治 that post a Japanese red pine in the garden inside center [9]. Approximately 50 old tiles are fitted in the berm under the second exhibition room eaves, and 13 old tiles are used separately from this in the garden [10]. I appoint it in the Kyoto-shi designation natural beauty spot [11].

Collection

Because the industrial art object of the Meiji period drifted to the foreign countries in delicate, elegant Shippo after taking effort to earn foreign currency mainly, there are not many numbers of the work remaining in the country [2]. In the main building, I possess 143 points [12]. It does thin money and silver metal wire into a tape form as abozzo of the patterns thin, and stick (植線), and, in Shippo of Namikawa, technique of "yusenshippo" [13] [14] to let you do a glaze between the line and line, and to repeat burning, abrasion is used for the metal womb (body), and it features it that one one of the works is small [2]. The created design ranges from flowers and birds poetic genius to the famous place figure really. Delicate painting is given as if it was totally drawn with a paintbrush [14].
