The United Nations Afghanistan Pakistan intermediation mission (when I release it alliance Afghanistan Pakistan ちゅうかい mission United Nations Good Offices Mission in Afghanistan and Pakistan,UNGOMAP) is one of United Nations peacekeeping operations (PKO). I assume inspection or return of refugees support of the withdrawal of the Afghanistani stationing Soviet Union forces based on the peace deal a duty.
Summary
After invasion of 1979 in Afghanistan, the Soviet Union forces were stationed in Afghanistan. There was the relaxation of the Cold War, too, and the withdrawal of the Soviet Union forces came to be considered. An international conference was held in Geneva from February, 1988 and was signed an agreement about the withdrawal of the Soviet Union forces and the return of refugees between four countries (the Soviet Union, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the United States of America) concerned on April 14. As for this, it becomes the main point that the Soviet Union forces withdrawing entirely, freedom, accepting the voluntary return, both of the Afghan refugee Afghanistan Pakistan do not interfere mutually by February 15, 1989.
The Secretary-General of United Nations received this agreement and, toward the establishment of United Nations peacekeeping operations for inspection, performed pressure in the organization concerned. The Secretary-General poached 50 military personnel required temporarily from the United Nations truce monitoring mechanism and United Nations Lebanese provisional stationary forces and let the field develop it for monitoring, inspection from April 25. This movement is accepted by United Nations Security Council resolution 622 on October 31, 1988, and United Nations Afghanistan Pakistan intermediation mission (UNGOMAP) will be established.
The stationing Soviet Union forces were scales of approximately 50,000 people, but the UNGOMAP inspected after garrison towns after the withdrawal and inspected withdrawal. On the occasion of the refugees return, I work under the cooperation with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
The stationing Soviet Union forces completely withdrew on February 15, 1989, and the inspection was carried out smoothly, too. However, the return of refugees does not go well, and the activity period of the UNGOMAP will be extended. It was a layoff in March, 1990 without the agreement of the country concerned being provided about the extension between further seasons in Security Council because the state of rebellion in Afghanistan continued after this, and the refugees return did not go well.
