Sumner (USS Sumner, DD-333) is a destroyer of U.S. Navy. One ship of the Klem loss grade destroyer. The name of a warship is associated with American Marine Corps captain Allen M Sumner who played an active part in World War I.
Warship career
Sumner starts work by ベスレヘム shipbuilding of California San Francisco on August 27, 1919. I am launched by marguerite Sumner on November 27, 1920, and a conduct bottom of the Major captain D B base-up Lee is placed on duty on May 27, 1921.
Sumner joined the United States Pacific Fleet 49th destroyer fleet thirteenth squadron second escadrille four days later. It was almost peaceful time in the warship career of nine years. On July 1, 1925, Sumner joined the battle fleet and left Pearl Harbor as one ship of the reconnaissance squadron consisting of light cruisers and went to Australia and the New Zealand. The military unit visited Pago Pago of Samoa, Melbourne, Sydney, Australia, Oakland, Littleton, Wellington, Dunedin, New Zealand. The fleet returned to the West Coast on September 26, and Sumner reopened training and a reconnaissance duty.
In March, 1927, Sumner passed Panama Canal to participate in fleet practice in the Atlantic. The north was visited between this practice to Massachusetts Boston and came back to the Pacific afterwards in June. After a cruise to Hawaii of 1928 and the strategy activity participation in the sea area, I usually engaged in a duty until 1930 when I came back to the West Coast.
On March 29, 1930, Sumner retired in California San Diego and was removed from a register on November 18. As a staying ship of the submarine crew, I was used as a structure strength examination warship successively afterwards in the navy until 1934.
