Sasayama shell mound
Sasayama shell mound (しのやまかいづか) is a shell mound of the Jomon period in Tochigi-shi Fujioka, Fujioka-machi, Tochigi-shi. I am located the former Watarase River left bank, the existing Watarase River right bank, the west of the Wataze flood prevention reservoir. It is Fujiokacho designated historic spot, and Tochigi and Meiji University find you.

Summary
The Sasayama shell mound exists at the former Watarase River left bank, the position facing the existing Watarase flood prevention reservoir. Tokyo Bay gets by a rise in water level called the transgression to current Koga-shi in Jomon period, Jomon, and it is thought that seawater was it at the time of the high tide in in front of shell mound. I call it old Tokyo Bay, but this shell mound is famous as Kaizuka in the most interior.
Originally the shell mound is a big horseshoe shape reaching north and south 100m, East-West 70m, and a fresh water-related shellfish of the Corbicula japonica is the center, but the oceanic climate shellfishs such as persimmon turban shells are seen, too. Present situation
