Real-time 4WD
Real-time AWD or the real-time 4WD is the standby-type four-wheel drive which Honda Motor Co., Ltd. developed.

History
The first (viscous coupling type)
In 1986, real-time 4WD was put on the first Civic shuttle which adopted a mechanical part time four-wheel drive till then. The thing which changed a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive was changed to the handed-down convention by the rotary difference of the previous rear wheel automatically by button operation by arranging viscous coupling for the propeller shaft which introduced driving force into the rear wheel. When the rotary difference of the previous rear wheel was excessive, for tight corner braking phenomenon to occur, viscous coupling absorbed a turn difference and allowed you to evade it.
I put INTRAC on the first concerto announced in 1988 newly. I arranged viscous coupling two right and left in substitution for the differential gear of the rear wheel and performed the driving force distribution of a front wheel and the right and left rear wheel and a differential limit and posted ドグクラッチ which operated in conjunction with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) between viscous coupling and a propeller shaft and balanced the standby expression 4WD that it was difficult in the technique at the time and four-wheeled ABS.
I it (dual pump type) for the second generation
I was carried for the first time for the second generation announced in 1993 by Integra (four-door). I am comprised of a clutch operating with two hydraulic pumps with the front wheel side and the rear wheel side and oil pressure and produce oil pressure when number of revolutions on the front wheel side exceeded it and am the structure that driving force reaches to the rear wheel side by a clutch being connected. It was FF in the state that a previous rear wheel did not have a rotary difference structurally, but, in the environment of the poles low coefficient of friction such as freeze road surfaces, I was slightly late after the skidding of the front wheel, and it was sudden, and driving force was transmitted to a rear wheel.
Cam mechanism is added to a thing carried for the third generation announced in 2003 by Odyssey, and an initial response of the driving force transmission improves, and the fault mentioned above is improved.
I it (electronic control type) for the third generation
The deployment first in 2011 for the fourth generation to CR-V. A series name becomes "real-time AWD" after this and is given the another name of "the intelligent control system" to distinguish it from a dual pump-type thing in that. If a clutch was connected with the thing which produced oil pressure by the drive that continued of the pump, I stopped a pump and adopted enclosure type oil pressure control to maintain drive transmission by hydraulic maintenance till then. Downsizing of the mechanism is made and in this way achieves 15% of lightweighting from a conventional dual pump type.
