Mon strike lira is a group of the special copepod. The inside is parasitic on marine products invertebrate at larval time, and the mature form does not take in nourishment. Therefore the feature is that I lack in all the trophi.

Table of contents

Characteristic

It is the group of the copepod, and mon strike lira is summarized in one eyes mon strike lira eyes (Monstrilloida). Apparently it is not very different from other copepods and it is wide and is long, and appendages having a short it line up to slim the first feeler, ventral in a body, the anterior extremity which gradually get narrow backward, and there is a tail limb at the rear end. The size is around 3mm in length. However, second feeler and all the trophi complete sets do not degenerate. Therefore, I can distinguish it from all copepods except this clearly. Other kinds do not have a long first feeler, and points that looking ahead, the female ventral have a projection and pick up clustered eggs on here characterize it elsewhere.

A larva is parasitic and lives, and this is because I do not take in nourishment after it only using nourishment at that time. It depends on a similar reason to lack in a digestive system as internal structure. The period of the mature form is extremely short. A few class is known, but the classification is not arranged.

Life cycle

I am parasitic for the larva period and live. It is Polychaeta for a host mainly, but the thing which is parasitic on a mollusk is known. In mon strike lira (Monstrilla), the inside is parasitic on Polychaeta. The nauplius larva which hatched possesses the surface of a body of the host and invades it and gets in blood vessel. The larva grows up as an approximately elliptic cell mass here. The appendages are not seen, but a twin slim projection develops from the former edge. It is thought that this controls absorption of the nourishment. This looks like the feeler, but it is not really so and is thrown away when it becomes the mature form.

When the larva grows up, it is the stage called the pupa, and the body of the mature form is formed in that. This is コペポディド V period by the outbreak of the general copepod. During a projection for the absorption, I produce a projection in the leader of the body externally, and the first feeler is settled in this. Other appendage is formed in the pupal inside.

When the mature form sheds off the skin, plankton life begins and I reproduce myself and die. It is dioecism.

Classification

I put a two department of mon strike lira department Monstrillidae and Thespesiopsylidae here. But there is the opinion that you should put the latter to the cyclopes eyes. I accept 8 genus in mon strike lira department, but it is said that the classification is confused.

  • Monstrillidae
    • Cybasoma
    • Monstrilla
    • Monstrillopsis
