Lobster eyes slanting downward (lobster かもく, a scientific name: Achelata) are one of the lower taxa of the tenth piece. I include the large Amao prawns including a lobster, ハコエビ, round fan prawns, sandals prawns, semi-prawns.

Achelata "does not have -" "A" = and, with "chelata" = "scissors," has a meaning, "there are not scissors".

Characteristic

All kinds are distributed with marine products mainly from the tropical zone to the subtropical zone.

There is not the swimming power to swim a long distance to a mature form and lives while walking all in the bottom of the sea. All the mature forms have a thick, firm external skeleton. A female holds the fertilized egg in pleopod like other prawns suborders and protects it until I hatch.

The larva which just hatched is called phyllo soma larva (phyllosoma) and does a unique form to have long swimmeret to the body such as the leaf of the broadleaf tree. The phyllo soma larva floats the whole sea as plankton, but the swimming period is relatively longer than other prawns eyes and grows up to size considerable for a larva sending number cm degree and floating life again and I keep this time alive and open distribution. Because a form and the habits were far apart from the parent, was discovered in the 19th century; was listed as new taxa of prawns eyes at first. The larva which grew up takes root in the place suitable for each habitation and I metamorphose into 稚 prawns and colonize.
