Graph key
A graph key is GRPH in accord with a keyboard of the PC-8800 series and the PC-9800 series and the PC-9821 series or GRAPH and the key carved a seal to NEC. They were used to input a ruled line line element piece and soot of the half size, and those letters were called a graphic character mainly. By the transplant of the software for the PC/AT compatibles, I was used in substitution for an Alt key (the key which is approximately equal for a function to make MSB 1 to character code).
I treat it about the key and the graphic character of the letter here.

Summary
A sign and the kanjis such as ruled lines are not included in ASCII and JIS C 6220 (current JIS X 0201). I placed these letters in 0x80 - 0xff of the character ROM with 88 and 98. In addition, I prepared GRPH key as an input method and allowed you to input it by inputting a necessary kanji at a ruled line line element piece and a cash register to write tables while pushing this key. The graph here refers to graphic, and take an image-like step on the basis of texts; is intended.
