ABC musical notation
The ABC musical notation (- きふほう, ABC music notation or ABC notation) was devised in one of the music description languages spoken with PCs by British Chris Walshaw. With "ABC," I merely say "abc" by a small letter again. I transcribe in combination a number to express the alphabet to express pitch and the sound head, other some signs.

Summary
It is the scale which was devised that the ABC musical notation displays ASCII characters and expresses a sheet of music. Therefore I can send even making possibility, a normal E-mail to a partner only by normal text editor, and a lot of advantages considerably spread for the communication on the net between mainly European and American net users. Particularly, I am suitable though note music does a simple melody comprised of a single sound.
A lot of freeware and shareware to convert ABC music into staff notation and MIDI data automatically are made, and these are often used. I can read a melody to some extent without converting it if used.
The way of the use such as "a search" doing the music of the vague recollection, and checking it is done when I master ABC musical notation in the European and American site because the enormous data of the musical piece with the ABC music are shown mainly on folk music mainly. For example, I translated a part of the melody of the tradition music that I had superficial knowledge of in downtown into ABC music by oneself and input the character string into a search engine and search.
Notation
As an example, I am as follows when I transcribe the melody of the folk song "so orchid clause" of Japan in ABC musical notation.
X: 1 T:sooranbushi M: 2/4 L: 1/8 K:F C2 DF | A2 GF | A2 GF | G2 FC | D2 FC | D2 D2 | z2 z2 || zG AA | GA AA | GA AA | GF D2 | zA, CA, | CD GF | zG AF | DC FD | D z CC | DF A2| A3 c | G F2 C | D2 D2 | D2 z2||
- X: 1 expresses 1 of the file number.
- T: sooranbushi expresses that a title is "so orchid Processed Aconite Root".
- M: 2/4 expresses that it is two-fourths beat.
- L: 1/8 expresses that I assume length of one character a quaver.
- K: F shows that 調 is F major (F major).
- "CDEFGAB" each "ドレミファソラシ" (when assume the absolute pitch of the doh C).
- "z" is a rest.
- 1 octave high-pitched sound is a small letter and the sound that is higher than it touches "'" in the top right corner and expresses it.
- 1 octave low sound just after a letter "beat, and express it.
- The number (possible each integer, fraction) behind each English letter shows the length of the note. ex. "D2" = "two minutes of the re note" (even if transcribe it into "D1/2" possible)
- "|" is the end of the bar. The space does not make sense, but inserts one beat in the point to count to be easy to usually see it.
