Structure and sound

Viola ダモーレ (1770)

I am considered to be a musical instrument of the relation of viola ダ Gamba [1], but I pick you up on the shoulder in the same way as viola ダ Braccio and a violin and play it. There are more performance strings in viola ダモーレ than a violin, and the ceiling is plane, and there is not a fret in a fingerboard. In addition, the shapes of the part of the sound hole to say with a violin are different.

The reason why a sweet, warm tone occurs like the name to mean "a viola of the love" in Italian is that there is metal sympathetic string under the performance string. Leopold Mozart writes in one's own book "Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule", "it is a particularly attractive sound in night stillness".

A viola player often plays it.

There is baritone (baryton) in the musical instrument with the sympathetic string like viola ダ Gamba. Norwegian race musical instrument ハーディングフェーレ (Hull Dan gel violin) is said to have been derived from viola ダモーレ.
