The Mead lake (Lake Mead) is the United States of America's greatest man-made lake. It is located in the Colorado River of the place of approximately 48 kilometers of southeast of Nevada Las Vegas and extends over Nevada and Arizona. I am made by Hoover Dam and extend to 180 kilometers of upper reaches of the dam and am full of the water of approximately 35 cube square kilometers. The water of the lake is sent to California and Nevada.

The name is associated with Ellwood Mead that was director at reclamation station from 1924 through 1936. During this time, a plan and the construction of the Boulder canyon project that a dam and a lake were settled for were carried out. Mead lake Kunitachi recreation area was established in 1964. Because water was saved by Hoover Dam, eviction was pressed for some villages. It was Saint Thomas to be the most famous, and that last inhabitants left in 1938. When the surface of the water usually falls down more, the ruins of Saint Thomas sometimes appear.
