Summary
One of the ancient highways which linked Yamato country and the Kawachi country through the south foot of Nijozan [1]. I am said to be the Japanese oldest national highway. Because there are a lot of old burial mounds including Ojin sky Imperial mausoleum, Nintoku Burial Mound, the Suiko sky Imperial mausoleum along the highway, it is thought with the important main line street which played a role as supplies transfer line, a culture transmission road [1]. It is the East-West roads which almost run in the central part of Furuichi old burial mound group and the Mozu old burial mound group, and it is thought even if it was a road to tie two old burial mounds group to. It is thought that it was laid behind Nagao highway. In addition, I will go to the Japanese yen part close to front region of the southeast edge of the Oyama old burial mound if I extend this highway to the east and west as a straight line road after being at the south end of Mt. Honda old burial mound. In other words, these two huge old burial mounds understand what is made on the north latitude line in the map.
The name of the Takeuchi highway comes from that I go over the Takeuchi Pass through Takeuchi village in Katsuragi-shi, Nara [1].
Constitution, history
The Takeuchi highway is "a state road" of the Japan oldest like the Namba avenues which were written down in the article of (613 years) for Emperor Suiko 21 years of the Chronicles of Japan saying "I put an avenue (uncle) to Kyoto (Asuka) from Namba" (Osaka) [1]. The current Takeuchi highway mainly overlaps with a state road of Emperor Suiko Era. The east side leads to the state road side main thoroughfare crossing the southern part of Nara Basin to the east and west. I was said to be 丹比道 (たじひみち) once. It is estimated that there was the name because I cross 丹比野. An article of (July 30, 672) knows what was used for Tomie who "reaches the multiplicity of the war from Otsu, 丹比, both の way if I go and look at meeting light に, the west", a revolt of 壬申 on July 1 in the Emperor Tenmu first year and is estimated when it is Nagao highway and Takeuchi highway.
It is the early seventh century as above that I was maintained as a state road, but it is thought that there was the traffic of already considerable people because the remains such as an Imperial mausoleum, the old burial mound from to the fourth to the fifth century remain in the west foot (current Taishi-cho, Osaka) of Nijozan much.
In the Asuka era, a mission and the studying abroad monk of the envoy to the Sui Dynasty come and go, and is informed by the Yamato the advanced culture of China and Korea of the continent which went ashore from Namba through Takeuchi highway, and brought development of the Asuka civilization, and the Buddhism transmitted through a sea route from the Silk Road also reaches the Yamato through Takeuchi highway; of the Japanese culture is, and is said to be Shizue when it was [1].
I continue as a part of Ise Highway in the Middle Ages, and National highway No. 166 goes now. Therefore, the Takeuchi highway will be used as a highway up to the present from the Asuka era.
I assumed the starting point Daido, Sakai line (Kishu highway) point of intersection in the early modern times. In the Edo era, Basho Matsuo lived in the Takeuchi village of the roadside for 1:00 period. There is the willowing machine mound of the Basho monument inscribed with a tanka poem there and is maintained now as a park.
