The first-grade river of the Kano River water system that the Kakita River (Kitagawa [1], a persimmon [1]) flows through Shimizu-cho, Sunto-gun, Shizuoka. It is the first-grade river which full length is approximately 1.2km, and is the shortest [2] in Japan [3]. Izumikawa, the neighboring areas were called Izumigo once [2]. It is the river which is rare in Japan which assumes a large quantity of springs a water source [4].
This river is counted in the Japan's three biggest clear stream with the Nagara River, the Shimanto River. I was chosen (1985) as Kakita River spring group in 1985 by 100 selections of famous clear water [5]. Furthermore, I was appointed in the frame of "the geological feature mineral" to the natural monument of the country [6]. This is a private plan, but is chosen in 100 selections of Japanese unexplored regions.

Summary
The Kakita River rises from the spring from "side interval" of Kakita River Park in Fushimi, Shimizu-cho and flows down to the south and joins the Kano River near Shimizucho government office. As for the running water, a gross quantity almost consisted of springs, and rainwater and thaw water to Mount Fuji infiltrated the Mishima lava flow, and it sprang out of the leader, and this appeared [2]. Is known in a clear stream; the water temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius regardless of a season. The flow quantity almost keeps uniformity through the year, too. Mishima Ranunculus aquatilis grows wild as aquatic plants peculiar to our river.
A factory stepped forward for an abundant spring, and the quality of the water turned worse by a discharge of the drainage, and the fish was in a condition not to be able to live once. A riverside was covered partially by concrete and did it for building a breakwater in the 1970s, but the national trust exercise by the local volunteer began in the 1980s, and move exercise and the cleaning activity of the factory were performed, and the environment where the kingfishers inhabited was left. The purchase of the trust place is continued now.
Kakita River spring group
The quantity of spring of the Kakita River is approximately 1 million m³[7] a day. The grounds were unknown, but have been said quantity of spring of Yoichi Azuma. The spring is used in waterworks water and is supplied not only Shimizu-cho but also neighboring Numazu-shi, Mishima-shi, Nagaizumi-cho with water. But a Numazu-shi Channel part has the water rights.
