Takao Kozai

Takao Kozai (こうざいたかお, July 20, 1937 -) is a Japanese animator, a character designer, a managing director of ジュニオブレイントラスト (old company name スタジオジュニオ), a professor at Takarazuka University of Art and Design. I am from Kagawa. Tokyo National Univ. of Fine Arts and Music university graduate.

Career

For a japanner to Takamatsu industrial arts Senior High School. However, I enter from constitution to get a rash with lacquer the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music sculpture department. After graduation, it is entered the company by Toei animation (existing: TOEI ANIMATION). It is said that it was entering a company that I take a test for employment to become the staff of the documentary film in Toei without knowing the animated cartoon really. Through animated movie "Journey to the West," I become an animator. In 1964 four years after the entering a company, I leave the office with 永樹凡人, Hiroshi Wagatsuma, Kenzo Koizumi and others and participate in the establishment of ハテナプロ. I was in charge of drawing of "magician Surrey" of the Toei animation work in the professionals. In 1969 after the professional dissolution, I establish スタジオジュニオ (existing: ジュニオブレイントラスト). After that while handling the work as the representative of the studio; "machine falcon" "chief of a subsection "newly star of the giant" of the flower" "good morning acted as drawing supervision and a character designer by a from 1970s through 1980s TV animated cartoon including スパンク". I experience the total drawing supervision from "beginning human being ギャートルズ" which began in 1974, and it is said that it is than 400 as for the number of the works which I dealt with so far.

スタジオジュニオ was brisk, too and had 20 work mainly on the work of Tokyo movie and the Toei animation a month, and the staff counted 130, too. But want to create one's character, and the TV animated cartoon of スタジオジュニオ only imitates the picture of the comic artist for Kozai that left Toei animation; work; from 1981 of the broadcast "good morning the work of the last TV animated cartoon came to wait for an animator in スパンク". From "ごんぎつね of 1979," I laid emphasis on a short story animated cartoon for the education for schools which could have the right by oneself using own character.

For a manager of スタジオジュニオ, I suffer damage from a TV animated cartoon "white whale legend" of 1997 and let much staff become independent by the incompletion case of the animated cartoon "cancer dress" for the theater of 1999 and Kozai remains in ジュニオ and will take responsibility as a manager.

I teach the production of the animated cartoon now in A J animated cartoon studio (Yachiyo art school) established by the cooperation of the Arima school group for 2,008 years while I teach the drawing of the animated cartoon in Takarazuka University of Art and Design which took office as a professor in 2006.
