Summary

Activity

In 1921, I am completed in Nagasaki. I participated in Siberia withdrawal of troops and Japan-China War after the completion, but I will engage in a northern strategy after the Pacific War outbreak of war as the fifth fleet position and participate in Attu Island, キスカ island capture strategy with the Operation Midway in 1942 and キスカ island disengaging action in the next year. I mainly got a transportation duty afterwards.

mounted with a plane

I installed a slide before a hangar and a bridge deck under a bridge deck at the time of the completion and allowed it to accommodate a land plane. Therefore a bridge deck structure upsized than other Kuma models. A bridge deck structure makes a following Nagara type, the Kawauchi type big for a similar reason. However, the utility of the slide was poor, and after that the land plane was not equipped with removal later.

The other 5,500 tons types light cruiser set up a catapult at the time of modernization remodeling, and it was equipped with one seaplane, but, in Kiso, the seaplane was not equipped with without installing a catapult with Ooi, northing.

Rainwater removal device

Kiso installs an abacus-shaped rainwater removal device in the upper one or two turn chimneys and can distinguish it from other warships for this purpose easily. In addition, Kuma sets up an abacus-shaped thing to all three chimneys with other 5,500 tons types, and it is at the identification point with other warships.

Warship career

On June 10, 1919, I start work. 1920December 14The launching On May 4, 1921, I was completed in Mitsubishi shipbuilding Nagasaki shipyard (existing Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki shipyard).

I participated in the Siberia dispatch of troops and I was based in Port Arthur successively and acted as the patrol of the coast between Kanto State and Qingdao.

On February 26, 1936, he/she cancels the dispatch by a request of the Naval General Staff on the occasion of a 2.26 case though I am going to achieve urgent dispatch to Tokyo Bay by the judgment of the Yokosuka naval station by the end of the day.

I fired the salute of 21 verges that Yoneshige cruiser Astoria carried ashes of Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Saito to the United States on board on April 17, 1939, and arrived at Yokosuka.

Pacific War

Kiso was incorporated into the 21st squadron of the fifth fleet (1941) on November 10 in 1941. I was active at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack in the Chishima Islands and came back to Yokosuka for the damage caused by the stormy weather at the end of the same year. Kiso was active (1942) at northern area of the sea with Tama of the warship of the same type from January to April in 1942.

When the dough liter air raid by U.S. forces was carried out in April, Kiso was dispatched for the task force chase in the United States, too. I discovered the monitoring boat "the 21st southing circle" that Kiso received bombing on 19th and was damaged and was drifting and disposed by bombardment after the help of the crew [2].

MayAleutian Islands capture operationに participation.

I participate in キスカ island disengaging action (1943) in July in 1943.

I engaged in the marshalcy transportation duties of the inland and the south area afterwards. It is done organization, and, on September 11, 丁一号輸送部隊 (the commander falcon hawk captain: carrier falcon hawk, light circulation 【 Kiso, Tama 】, destroyer 【 big wave, valley wind 】, Kurita circle) will transport marine movement brigade (former detached force) by the lower law of the combined fleet [3]. On September 15, Kiso, Tama unloaded Ujina to Caroline Islands, ポナペ for departure, 22 days [3]. Two ships are performed a cruise of to the truck anchorage and wait. On October 24, a falcon hawk, a valley wind transport former detached force and arrive at the track and move it to Kiso, Tama, a valley wind [3]. Three ships left the track on 26th and they went on 27th and unloaded a military unit [3]. 丁一号輸送部隊 was dissolved with transportation duty completion [3]. On October 5, the combined fleet performed organization of a T four transportation corps (14 squadron 【 Naka, Isuzu 】, light circulation 【 Kiso, Tama 】, fourth expulsion corps 【 chilly wind, dance style 】, destroyer clouds below a mountain summit, carrier 【 chestnut Tamaru, Hie circle, defense of the fatherland-maru, clear circle 】) as a commander in Major General Commander the 14th squadron Kenzo Ito (flagship Naka) [4]. The first convoy (the commander Tama captain: Tama, Kiso) is equipped with approximately 980 the 17th divisions and supplies on October 12 and leaves the upper mirage [4]. I incorporated destroyer April into the military unit when I arrived at the track on 18th [5]. I left on 19th and went to Rabaul, but received the air raid of the U.S. military plane in Cape New Ireland island cent George northeast 40 浬 on 21st [4]. One bomb hit the first chimney starboard neighborhood of Kiso, and could not navigate it at one time, but succeeded in restoration [6]; [7]. I made sure of own strength navigableness of Kiso, and Tama left for Rabaul [8]. I arrived at Rabaul at around the midday of 21st while repulsing destroyer early summer rain and junction, the attack of the U.S. military plane that I rushed to for relief from Rabaul in Kiso, April and succeeded in fire extinguishing [9]. Tama did 帰投 to a truck by the end of the same day and Kiso that performed a tinker left Rabaul on 28th and came back to the truck on 30th [4]. Kiso, Tama are removed from the T four transportation corps in 日附 on October 23 [10]. The 17th expulsion corps (beach style, seaside wind) was incorporated into the transportation corps in 27 日附 in order to supplement a force [4].

Kiso entered Maizuru on November 10 and performed full-scale repair (1944) afterwards until the end of February in 1944, the following day [11]. At this chance I received large repair, and I removed the fifth .7 turn gun of the 14cm main battery, and the 12.7cm multi-launching anti-aircraft gun 1 gate and an increase detailed が line of the machine gun were broken [1]. After having trained you in Gulf of great Minato, Kawauchi from March, 1944 to the end of May, it enters Yokosuka and performs army transportation duty to Chichijima on June 30. I maintain it after the return and supply Yokosuka on July 3 and depart from Yokosuka on August 11. It enters Kure on the same month 12. On August 30, it becomes the exercise guard warship and comes under the command of the Yokosuka navy gunnery school about the training [12]. On October 30, Kiso departed from Sasebo toward Brunei while guarding the falcon hawk which performed a transportation duty with the 30th expulsion corps (evening moon, April, autumn wind) [13], but autumn wind was attacked and sunk by the falling of a thunderbolt of U.S. submarine ピンタド on the way on November 3. The transportation fleet entered Manila in a Bruneian gulf on 重巡利根 and junction, November 10 [11]; [14]. It was admitted into the fifth fleet, the first mine squadron and waited on the same day to transport the fifth fleet headquarters to Brunei [11]. On 12th, the falcon hawk convoy incorporates the destroyer autumn shower which came back alive from Leyte offing sea fight, and have Kiso; and to the inland 帰投 [15]. On November 13, it was anchoring in the Gulf of Manila the next day and received the attack of the U.S. carrier task force carrier-based plane and Kiso was completely demolished and reached the bottom. In addition, in the beginning, waves in the offing, the autumn frost wear sinking or serious damage, too, and it is a bottom state in the neighborhood in the destroyer New Year [16]. On the middle of the night of the same day, the residual war vessel (haze, the first frost of the year, morning frost, the tide, bamboo) departed from Manila and went to Singapore [17].

On December 10, Kiso was appointed to a spare warship [18]. Maizuru naval station family register, warship Kiso was removed than the warship family register (1945) on March 20 in 1945 [19].

I rose from 1955 through 1956 in the field with the beginning and was dismantled. I am proud of the most head as a light cruiser of the Japanese Navy for age of a warship 35 years.
