Tincture of iodine
The tincture of iodine (Dutch Joodtinctuur, German language Iodtinktur) is a disinfectant, disinfectant using disinfection of iodine (iodo).
Composition and characteristic
It is a powerful drug with a red-brown liquid. It is a rare tincture of iodine which I diluted to double that is used for sterilization (this is not a powerful drug), but this is usually called a tincture of iodine by the public, too.
Iodine hardly dissolves in water, but relatively melts for the alcohol which is kind of the organic solvent. The tincture of iodine dissolved iodine in ethanol, too, and potassium iodide (KI) is included as an additive.
It is a purpose I let iodine ionize as a triiodide ion by という reaction, and to add to solution more. 3 g of iodine is included in 6 g, a rare tincture of iodine in 100 ml of tinctures of iodine. Application of the prescription of the tincture of iodine includes a Lugol's solution (a generic name: concoction iodoglycerin). Sweetness and viscosity are increased by a liquid by using glycerin, and it is in a suitable formulation to apply it to pharynx, and to sterilize it. Lugol's solutions are used in otolaryngology well.
Dental iodoglycerin (it is a generic name and is a brand name.) is used to root canal disinfection (sterilization after having pulled dental nerve) in dentistry. (in addition, concoction iodoglycerin and dental iodoglycerin are similar medicines, but some ingredients are different.)
The color that arrived by a tincture of iodine often comes from a color of iodine oneself and gradually fades with evaporation of iodine. When I hurry, I can bleach it by sodium thiosulfate ethanol.
History
Before the 1970s, the tincture of iodine spread as home disinfectant with Mercurochrome liquid widely. Because Mercurochrome liquid was red, I called a tincture of iodine with "iodine", and "Mercurochrome" expressed it led by a schoolchild in particular at the standard home.

When it was the 1990s, のど candy boom went away, and carrying-type povidone iodine solution sprays including brand name "のどぬーる spray" spread as a general practitioner medicine explosively (a thyroidal disorder came out by an excessive intake of iodine); [the source required]. The Lugol's solution-based carrying-type spray is released and revives in different meanings now.
