Mikata (Shinto)

Mikata (Shinto)

Food and wine offered to the gods (Katori major shrine) which was put on Mikata

Mikata (さんぼう, さんぽう) is a stand to ride food and wine offered to the gods used in an act of God of the Shinto. When I gave to a noble person a thing in the ancient times, I was used. A similar thing is used at the temple. I may be written as three treasures (さんぽう) on a Buddha, Buddhism and Buddhist (Buddha, law, Buddhist priest).

Structure

With the stand (trunk) usually cuboid-formed in the woodenness due to the bare tree of hinokis (しらき) under the Bon Festival called the square tray (is precious) have a shape. Because there is a hole in three directions of the stand, I am called "Mikata".

Originally when a square tray and the stand separated and used it, I rode a square tray on the stand and might use it only in a square tray without picking you up on the stand. The thing which a stand completely coupled with a square tray is used, and the thing to use only in a square tray comes to prepare today separately from Mikata.

The design of the hole of the stand does not have the rule, but form of the precious stone is used well.

The square tray has spelling eyes to pin the board of the relationship, but this is made so that it is in the other side of the side that there is not of the hole. When I offer it before the alter, a side (the other side of spelling eyes) without the hole is suitable before the alter. When food and wine offered to the gods has Mikata that appeared, for the relationship of right and left, I hit a square tray and the stand with other fingers and have a thumb in the eye-level. However, with the tradition to hang a finger in a square tray with a finger with the Imperial Court manners [1].

In addition, Mikata of the special shape includes board foot Mikata or full Mikata.

In addition, the type with the hole is in every direction, too and calls it "every direction" (I do it and report it) [2].
