Origin
I am born in the suburbs of Marburg. Study under Ernst Cassirer; is Ph. in 1922 I acquire D. I learn from Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger later. I study in Paris and Cambridge as Rockefeller scholarship student from 1932 through 1934. I emigrate to the United States in 1938 to escape from the persecution of the Nazis because it is Jewish, and the person was a Zionist. I lecture in political science through the research fellow of the Columbia University history subject in a news cool university. I acquire American nationality in 1944. I was invited in 1949 by University of Chicago and performed a lecture, the study of the political idea afterward for 20 years.
I adopt Heidegger, Talmud (Masanori of the Judaism), Islam philosophy, philosophy such as Spinoza and build an original philosophy. "Strauss school" was formed of his disciple. By the lecture, Machiavelli, the classic text of Nietzsche and others were used including Plato. I objected to the theory of the State of Plato from influence of Aristotle decidedly as well as curl ポパー, but it was said that Plato should read as epistemology and I prepared and interpreted an outside menace to unify the public when Plato advocated "noble lie" Noble lies that you might use religion for. But he individual rejected Marxism and Nazism as "cruel nihilism" and criticized the Weimar government which permitted the rise.
In addition, I brought "the rigid distinction of a fact and the value" of the Max Weber style into question.
Viewpoint to a political influence
His thought affects the modern politics in the United States particularly the neo-conservative and the called person, and there is I see, turning with one of the supports of the administration of the Bush administration. However, there is the tone to deny such a viewpoint like Francis Fukuyama. Fukuyama states, "there is Strauss groups or the fact that there is no in the Bush administration which pushed on to the Iraqi War in one of the reasons why it is stupid to consider that Strauss affected the foreign policy of the Bush administration." in a book (35 pages of "ends of the United States"). But the Strauss group (Straussian) is often distinguished from a person (nobody as for Fukuyama) affected by Strauss.
Or in the first place there is the indication that it contradicts Strauss conforming to classic law of nature in the neo-conservative with an artificial view of the world.
For a person equal to the pupil, there are Allan Bloom and Saul Bellow.
