Geography

There are many waterfalls in Ariake along with adjacent Takino, Minami-ku [6]. In the Takino outskirts, the pyroclastic flow sediment from the volcano which formed Lake Shikotsu approximately 40,000 years ago is thick, and part becomes 溶結凝灰岩 [7]. Because the part of 強溶結 is hard and is hard to receive the downward erosion of the river, it is possible for a pitch difference in the border with the soft volcanic ashes stratum, and a waterfall is formed. I add it to the main stream, and there is a waterfall in the branch newly when I go over the main stream of the river and the junction of the branch in the process that retrogresses while the waterfall reduces 強溶結. According to such reason, it is thought about there being many waterfalls in the whole area [8].
