オオカマキリ (large mantis, 大螳螂, scientific name: Tenodera aridifolia) is an insect of the mantis eyes mantis department. I resemble a butterfly sen mantis (mantis) closely, but this seed is slightly larger.

Distribution
Of Japan inhabit the whole area (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Tsushima), and is almost distributed over Taiwan, China, Southeast Asia [1].
Form, habits
Length male 68-92mm, female 77-105mm. There are many individuals that the hind wing becomes the purple brown with ecru in the previous hip base interval. There are many color of the body individuals of Midori origin, but a few individuals with the color of the body of the tea system exist generally, too. A tendency to upsize so as to go to the south is strong and the Hokkaido product is small and rarely reaches 100mm, but the individual from Kyushu is big, and it is male and is female, and it may be to the length and size not to be defeated by.
I hatch from an egg sheath in Kinki and the Kanto area in Kyushu in about April in March and begin activity. At this chance the larva approximately 200 is born in form to be said to be a previous larva and I am born and shed off the skin immediately and change into the shape of the general mantis. It is carnivorous than larva time and often preys on one another. The larva grows up while performing ecdysis of several degrees and preys on the live insects such as grasshoppers depending on growth condition. Each of the two or three individuals which can mature into an imago under nature safely is said.
As for this seed, the main activity is performed in the day to like sunny environment. It is grassland mainly, and the habitation areas inhabit a lot the high rush of the riverbank. I often hide myself behind a flower at a butterfly and a bee targeted for predation. In addition, I come flying for the lights such as streetlights. When I am active in the night, eyes discolor black. This is to take in a lot of light more, and the pupillary change of the cat is near. It is around October, and the individual with long life has the case inhabiting until December from August during the activity period of the imago.
The female which finished copulation deposits an egg sheath of the frothiness which the egg approximately 200 was in to the branch of the plant. The follicle is tense brown in several hours. The case that a postcoitum female preys on a male is generally well known, but this is necessarily still less a situation to occur under nature. When I breed this seed in a case mainly, as for being able to observe this scene well, this occurs for there not being a male refuge. There are many patterns to occur with the case that such a scene under nature is rather copulating, and a female preys on a male. As for the female which finished laying eggs, the abdomen largely becomes small and I pass to several degrees and repeat such a laying eggs and invite last moments.

Predation and cover food
This seed is a large seed in the mantis, and the predation object sometimes preys to a tree frog and a lizard from the large size insects such as a swallowtail butterfly and a cicada, a grasshopper, a migratory locust, the dragonfly, and there is the record that killed the small size mammals such as small size birds, the mice such as sparrows. In addition, I appear frequently in not only the grassland but also the forest and may rise on the tree at the insect which sap attracts.
On the other hand, natural enemies of this seed include a wild bird, a monkey, a bear, a fox, the raccoon dogs such as a crow or the shrike, various mammals, snakes, toads such as the weasel. Insects preying on this seed include giant hornet, a golden-ringed dragonfly, a dragonfly of the family Aeschnidae, but predation, the record of cover food both sides exist with these insects. When sap attracts it, there is the record preyed on to the thicket drill which is a centipede and a large grasshopper.

Relation with the human being
Because the figure which set up the sickle resembles the figure which a human being matches a hand with, I am said to be another name "Ogami insect" [2]. Elsewhere ヨゲンシャ (prophet), a wart insect re-wart di; may be called a re-wart insect. [The source required]
This seed preys on the green caterpillar and others which a grasshopper and a grasshopper, a harlequin bug and a cricket, cabbage eating away the fields are accompanied by and is often considered to be a beneficial insect for a human being to prey on aphids and an ant in the larva. On the other hand, I have a pest and the side that it is partly because there is the case that a bee is preyed on for the apiarist. Because the territory of this seed is not large and often takes root in one place, there is a method to keep this kind loose as part of the pest extermination of the gardening.
